I assume this is an an age thing! However, the exception is Split - Groundhogs which is in my vinyl collection. I remember seeing them at the Manor Ballroom circa 1976. Great night. Wow, Gravenhurst, criminally underrated. That is a brilliant album, as was all his stuff. Gone far too soon.

I bizarrely bumped into a Groundhog and his wife in a 2nd hand record shop in Haverhill in the mid 90,s. Apparently they had a house/recording studio between Haverhill and Steple Bumpstead. The wife was incredibly friendly ( almost swinger friendly ). Think they had mistaken my long hair and dishevelled raver looks for some kinda rocker type. We're discussing bands I'd never heard off for a few minutes before explained I wasn't really a fan of 70 s rock. They were still incredibly friendly, explained where house was and invited me up there if I was passing..

I'm still on the fence about it. Just felt as a concept album it never quite reached the heady heights of the classic singles making yer mind up or the land of make believe

I think it stands up well as an anthology of BF through all their musical experimentations. A true journey throughout all their styles over the years. Some genius work such as the deep and thoughtful writings of Van Day and Nolan and the thrilling vocals of Baker and Aston. All in all a truly magnificent testimony.

After a stellar/Stella review like that I feel it deserves another listen. I may have failed to pick up on the complexities of Van Days and Nolans writings first time around
