Addressing the ongoing crisis in Gaza, he called for ‘a meaningful political solution for the kind of violence we’ve been seeing on our TV screens over the last two years — not lip service, but a meaningful peace process.’

I think it is quite possible for there to be a rise in despicable antisemitism AND there to be misuse of accusations to further other objectives (including from the Israeli Government to shut down opposition to it). I also think the actions of the Israeli Government will have led to an increase in antisemitism (which of course is still wholly unacceptable). I find it sad that a few posters (and it is only a very few) on here seem totally polarised on the issue.

I don't think people realise just how disgraceful the antisemitism smears were. One of the most shameful episodes in British history. And devastating consequences including Reform and far right rise and arguably our complicity in genocide too. A lot of liberals who saw themselves as moderate are going to be responsible for Farage as PM because they couldn't countenance Corbyn as PM and moderate democratic socialism. And really all because they didn't like not being in control and thought they were more reasonable than others when in reality they were the most unreasonable.

Hozier's words seem "fine" and yet the BBC have refused to air his whole performance for fear of being falsely accused of antisemitism again. I'm not sure what the rest of your rant has to do with my post but you carry on doing you! Nice straw man emotive stretch there about pre schoolers. Shall we list the genuine numerous cases of false claims of antisemitism now which you have got used to hiding behind to excuse the genocide in which you are complicit? from the article you linked: ‘As mutually agreed ahead of Reading Festival, Hozier chose not to be included in the BBC’s coverage.’

Because they wanted to speak freely? What a state of affairs. ‘Imagine having Hozier as a HEADLINER at Reading/Leeds and then choosing not to stream his set because he’s too political and you’re scared of Israel. The BBC is so embarrassing.’ ‘The BBC didn’t stream his headline set for fear of what Hozier might say about Palestine. The average Irish citizen has more integrity in their little finger than the entire BBC and Labour Party put together.’ Earlier this summer, the BBC was criticised for live-streaming Bob Vylan’s Glastonbury set, which ended with chants including ‘death, death to the IDF (Israeli Defence Force)’ alongside various pro-Palestine slogans. In response, the broadcaster announced it would no longer show performances it considers potentially ‘high risk.’ [Post edited 24 Aug 2025 23:50]

you've edited that since i replied. you have now quoted the un-evidenced opinions of the three idiot tweeters. plus you've copied a sentence about glasto in an attempt to randomly connect the two. it's like you've got an agenda to push.

I guess "idiot tweeters" are only not idiots in your eyes when pushing right wing agendas nowadays. The final sentence is not about Glastonbury but very much about why Hozier 'agreed' not to have their show broadcast live.

I don't normally agree with Lowers but he's spot on here. The article clearly states "Hozier chose not to be included in the BBC’s coverage" and then it's followed by a bunch of random tweets saying he's been cut by the BBC. Unless you have some actual evidence then all we have to go on at the moment is that he chose not to be broadcast himself. Shame, as I thought his words were beautiful and should be seen/heard.
