Thought it before but even more having seen some of the drivel online. Hirst memes with him on a cereal packet with 'win a football contract' on it... Disgraceful. We're only where we are as a club because of players like George. A really important and likeable player. And the usual nasty rubbish about Al Hamadi too. Bring back the end of the Evans years. At least the crowd supported the team.

But a new signing will help him - take pressure off him and give him breathing space to regain his form, rather than having the same pressure as now.

Don't think the issue is a striker. I don't think there's much of an issue to be honest. Win tomorrow and we're 4 points off top. I don't know where all this hysteria is coming from. My feeling is KM doesn't feel that a finding a striker who fits (exceptionally hard in this window for us) is the answer.
| To be honest, I hope we don't sign anyone on 16:50 - Feb 2 with 2112 views | ITFCSG | Boy you must have very low expectations, it has been more than half the season and it is clear for all to see except the delusional that Azon (who has never been prolific, 25 goals in 144 apps in the Segunda Division, a division that is much poorer than the Champ and probably at L1 levels) and Hirst (for whatever unknown reason) isn't fit to fire us up this season. We have probably the largest budget in the entire EFL, a parachute club, it is laughable if the best we can get is Azon and Hirst, players that would never make it to the starting XI in any other top 10 Champ club. | | | |

....get a striker in during this window then? Are you suggesting that the club are trying to sign players that KM doesn't want? Or even worse sign them behind his back? We've been trying to sign a player all month, and it looks like we are going to fail. My feeling is that KM won't be happy about that.

It did feel like Clarke was something of a panic signing when we couldn't get Philogene over the line originally. And then we brought Philogene in anyway. Furlong joined the ranks of the 500 right backs we have on our books. Plus you forgot McAteer.

The fact we tried to get bamford shows KM did want a striker

O'Shea - decent defender, but to my mind doesn't remotely fit as a progressive ball-playing CB that he was replacing (Woolfy) Kipre - desperation signing in fear that our £16m on Greaves has been majorly spunked away? Furlong - decent defender, but offers much less than Harry Clarke going forward, so to my mind he makes us *worse* especially in home games like Preston where onus is on us to dictate and create. Philogene and Clarke for one position... did we really need both? Could another £15m-£20m have gone towards a legit replacement for Delap this summer had we not bought both? Matusiwa - Signing of the summer, for sure, but way, way more bloopers than successes.

For every Philogene, Clarke, O'Shea, Kipre, Furlong, Matusiwa - I can also use the examples of AAH, Ahadme, Camara, Godfrey, Phillips, Ogbebe, McAteer So at best is a 50% hit rate with the highest budget in the EFL. Nothing fantastic. [Post edited 2 Feb 17:05]

If you've listened to KM over the past few weeks (in fact pretty much forever) then you'd understand his position. Of course he'd get a striker in if there was an opportunity to improve on what we have. That goes for any position. The key word being 'opportunity' - they have to fit KM's requirements, be available and agree to come. If those don't align, we move on.
| To be honest, I hope we don't sign anyone on 17:01 - Feb 2 with 1821 views | itfcsuth | George Hirst has done so much for the club, but not only does he look devoid of confidence, he’s missing key components that contributed to his past success. The reality of where we are, we need a clinical centre forward, we’ve missed big chances from our centre forward this year - and it could make a difference in the run in. I saw the cereal box meme, didn’t make me chuckle one bit, but it wouldn’t be a reason for us not to go to the market and improve on what has been an evident weakness for near all season. Don't think his had abuse certainly not a home games yes moans when chances go begging.. From a romantic side lovely if things work out But not so good if the season ends in failure next few weeks will be instrumental what happens. | | | |

....pi55ed off if we don't improve our CF options. Obviously he won't be saying that in public, but anyone that believes he is happy with the situation (yet again) is utterly delusional.

SB - with the greatest of respect, this has nothing to do with society? It's about being in a once-in-a-generation saloon to establish the club in the PL and wasting our chance by keeping faith with a striker (Hirst) who just may not be as good as we thought and another (Azon) that's a complete and utter project.
