But we have a game in hand. Its literally down to ourselves Boro and milwall have offered us the opportunity to get promoted.. if we did our job on tuesday there would be no fear following today's results.

Yes, but we didn't do our job on Tuesday. Hence we've invited all this unnecessary pressure on ourselves. Fully expected a Millwall win. Thoroughly peeved at Saints scraping a winner. Lose against Boro and it's all over IMO. We've still got a chance if we draw.

What you mean is we’ve given ourselves the chance of promotion. Since around November, once the league had stabilised, neither have built any particular lead on us, and league position has been very much influenced by us running 1-2 games less played than all the other teams competing for the top of the table.

Difference is, they seem to want it more than us. Looking at us Tuesday night didn’t seem like we were interested enough for the premier league, which speaks volumes.

One swallow does not a summer make. Sure, we were very off-it on Tuesday for whatever reason, and we can’t afford to do that again for the rest of the season. However, we’ve not often put in a performance as off-it as that was, and anyone trying to suggest that we weren’t up for the Norwich game isn’t being objective.

I'd suggest 90% of players would be replaced if we go up so why would they be up for getting benched or sold?

I don’t accept your premise - they’re professional sportsmen. But if you want one answer, I’m sure they’re on for some pretty sizeable bonuses if we’re promoted. We know what was paid out on promotion in 24/25. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

I agree, and it's likely going to affect performances in the remaining games from some players.

We were interested enough to give your boys a hiding last weekend though.

I’m pretty sure more than half of Coventry’s squad will be replaced over the summer so, if what you say is true, why did they want promotion so much?

Complete rubbish, as I pointed out in another thread. Anyone who would suggest this doesn’t understand professional sportsmen and can’t have ever played sports at a competitive level themselves. [Post edited 18 Apr 19:19]

Of course it isn’t. It would be far from ideal but we’d still be 1 point off with a game in hand. A million times better than most seasons this century.

I dont think it would be the case of the majority of the side, competitiveness. Bonuses. Wage increases etc etc But. What about an akpom for example. If we go up we have to buy him. His wage you'd imagine wouldnt be that much different to what hes on because wed currently be paying a % of his ajax one.. because hes not exactly a starting player he might prefer us not to get promoted. Or maybe neil where it doesnt matter what we do hell be off anyway.

But we didn’t. We can’t deal with what might have been, we have to concentrate on the reality. And the reality is we can still do it and it is in our hands, but we have plenty to do yet.

| All the talk of Boro and Saints but Millwall aren't going quietly.... (n/t) on 20:14 - Apr 18 with 794 views | Swansea_Blue | It’s been an interesting back end to the season. The chatter has been fairly reactive game by game and because several teams have been slipping up regularly and changing places, it’s meant the spotlight keeps swapping between teams. Ho knows who’ll be back as the favourite after our match tomorrow. | |

Every team can say that. Millwall’s last 6 is LDWLDW and Boro’s is LDDLDL. Southampton are probably ruing such a dreadful start or they could be well clear of everyone given what they’ve shown. It’s all ifs and but’s, we need to get 2ppg from here and other results won’t matter.
