Villa were a mess at Brighton, but Arsenal are looking very ordinary against them tonight. The bonus of being at home and wanting to bounce back from an embarrassing defeat makes for a dangerous opponent.
Don't get too carried away with the wins, nor too down by the losses. We need to wait and see how we do over the first 10 games before we can really judge what kind of season we're in for. Let the new guys settle in, and know what we're up against, before we wet the bed.

I was thinking that. The substitution was obviously to protect him from being sent off.
I would prefer we learn from yesterday's mistakes whilst playing someone like man utd, rather than making the same errors against one of the teams that we need to beat to stay up.

Arsenal may be champions but they’re a dreadfully dull team to watch.
I will credit Arteta in, man for man, I'd argue he's getting more of his squad, results rise, than he should. Other than Rice, I don't think there are any players at Arsenal who the likes of PSG and Real Madrid would be salivating over. But he gets them working as a unit.
Agreed, it's not exciting to watch. As we saw under Mick, if results take a turn, then fans are likely to have less patience. But for now, they'll take trophy-winning attrition over Wenger-like beautifully styled failure.

He did not touch the ball, are you on drugs?
The only thing I saw him do was run up to Raya who was doing 'game management' which to be fair was probably very intelligent game management. Raya then picked up the ball and Abraham stood next to him complaining he was time wasting.
However, by standing next to Raya telling him he was wasting time, Raya was successfully able to argue he could not play the ball because the striker was obstructing him and held it in his hands for a further 20 seconds.
Not the most intelligent play and I bet it really wound Emery when he didn't back up once this became clear.
