Might have to be the new way to check the scores on a Saturday.

Such a shame the BBC stopped doing this on 5 Live a few years back.

Proper nostalgia that. Reminds me of being in the car with my dad.

‘Oxford United against Oldham Athletic, is a late result’.

Always liked the satisfaction of being able to predict the number of goals the away team scored by the tone in which the home team's score was read out.

Evocative. Beautiful sound. Needs a bit of work smoothing it out, little bit staccato

Yes. I thought that too. Especially the first score, but even so, a welcome return of a much missed football staple.

Oof, brings it all back. Sitting on the travel club coach slowly inching out of the car park (sometimes with a police escort, that was always mildly exciting), and getting excited upon hearing THAT music.

Ot at home games leaving the ground and someone always had a radio with them and you’d be listening in. Then heading to the newsagent and queue up ready for when the Green Un would arrive.

Those were indeed the days.

Any chance of the typewritten results that they used to have on Grandstand, many moons ago, coming back? :)

Reminds me of the days when I went to the football with my dad and listened to the results as we drove home from the car park of what was then the Central Accounts Office of Eastern Electricity, situated on Russell Road and backing onto the practice pitch.

I quite liked that you knew pretty well whether the home team won, lost or drew from the intonation in his voice before you even heard the score of the away team.
