I was wondering whether we should be bringing sport into it all, but that's a good point. See also banning SA athletes over apartheid (until they became British and forgot to put their trainers on before running of course). |  |

I think another poster framed it well earlier today, in that you keep posting items and then running away from them.
I assume you do realise the backdrop behind the ROI v Israel games coming up. The pressure on the ground over here to not play them and the discussions with UEFA along with the FAI grounds to have to play them along with not putting pressure on the players themselves.

What I don’t understand is that there weren’t any calls on here, or in the sporting world in general, for Iran to be banned from the World Cup after their government slaughtered 40.000 of there own people in the course of a two week period in February of this year. Can't argue against that, and there is clearly a debate to be had there too.
On a tangent to that, I use a little clothes alteration shop in town, and the owner (sole employee) is originally from Iran and has family still living there. We always have a bit of a chat when I go in, and whilst he has very mixed views on the current war and its motivations, he is absolutely clear that the regime there is pure evil and hopes thst they are one day removed.
