If Brazil go out tonight 18:26 - Jun 27 with 2744 viewsGlasgowBlue

I think we have as good a chance as any other team left in to win the World Cup.

You could well be right. I think tomorrow's game against Belgium (even though they may field a weaker side) will give us a good look at home good we might actually be.

Nah. Our defence will be our undoing at some point.

I’m still on France, but Croatia and Uruguay both look strong. Spain could find their straps, also Brazil. We are still way down the list.

I suspect you may be right, Croatia or Uruguay would be a worry from what I've seen so far...

From what I’ve seen so far I think we have as good a chance as anybody else if Brazil stay in.

Henderson is crucial for us. We know we can be devastating going forward but suspect at the back. For us to go deep into the tournament Henderson needs to raise his game to Skuse levels.

I think we can beat anyone but if I had to put my shirt on it I would go for Croatia.

Edit; I really don't rate Brazil.

Two thirds of the world cups have been won by the big three. Be good to add a new name to the list.

Our defence hasn't been tested by a top team yet. One thing I have noticed is that the quick fit teams are performing better than those who rely on slowing the game down and passing the ball. And we have pace in spades.

I watched the Germany game outside on a big screen at the harbour overlooking the white cliffs with a few pints in the sunshine.

Glorious.

I read that we have made the fewest tackles in the tournament. Four. Followed by Belgium. Five.

In all fairness, this is the first tournament I've enjoyed since 2006. Obviously due to England not stinking like my bins, partially due to the struggles of ze Germans and (to a lesser extent) the Argies, and also just due to the fact that most of the teams are giving it a go (honourable exceptions for the Saudis)

How are the Auld Enemy viewing it all?

Like the Italians, they are viewing it on TV. BOOM BOOM.

All of the sports shops have every kit on display except England. Although most people I know are enjoying it as they have been resigned to not qualifying for a while now.

That sounds marvellous.

2 x BBQs so far, both of which have been suitably untidy (you can probably join the dots....)

Toying with the idea of the Gardeners tomorrow, altho someone told me that the Steamboat is half-decent.

We're going over there if we make the QFs, right?

I don't see why not. Portugal won Euro 2016 and look very average all the way through, where as we've looked dangerous on the attack and got 6 points.

France and Argentina look poor, Portugal, Spain and Belgium look susceptible to conceding a few, Brazil look very average, Uruguay will find it hard to break down stronger teams. I'd say Croatia are the standout team so far.

If we get a favourable knockout run of games, why the hell not?

I'm really, really worried about meeting Colombia in the second round. They have the attacking players to hurt us and I think most people would see it as a straightforward game.

If we can avoid/beat them and get to the quarters then anything could happen....

Both look good when attacking but neither defence looks comfortable when under pressure, king Harry will score a couple against either team

Serbia needed to commit at least two in the box and their attackers also did not gamble enough. Brazil look defensively vulnerable but have pace to burn even late on in a match, which will always put them in the reckoning. It is a wide open with the sides mentioned, plus Belgium have some great attackers, however I do agree Croatia have looked a very complete team and capable of beating anyone.

Tomorrow, will be a good opportunity to see how far England have come competitively.
