Best loyal servant team 13:31 - Apr 19 with 1840 views | monty_radio | RULES: 1) 250 + apps (if you extend down to 200 the field will be wider, but not much) 2) If you never saw enough of these to form a team, you can drop to 200 (see at the bottom). 3) If you want to restrict your team to those you actually saw play, then just indicate . 4) If you didn't see enough of these to form a team, after using as many as you can, then complete your team with any long-serving players (say at least 5 seasons, that you did see) CHOICES Bailey, Wright, Forrest, Cooper Burley, Carberry, Yallop, Stockwell, Zondervan, McCall, Mills, Malcolm, Wilnis Baxter, Hunter, Osman, Butcher, Linighan, Beattie, Chambers Wark, Tommy Parker, Elsworthy, Dai Rees, Gates, Leadbetter, Viljoen, Woods, Holland, Magilton, Milton, Dozzell, Mick Lambert, Peter Morris, Skuse. Crawford, Phillips, Tom Garneys, Mariner, Scowcroft, Whymark, Naylor ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Actually, extending it down to 200+ apps doesn't bring in too many more; Two from the fifties: Harry Baird (goalie) and Neil Myles (fullback) Two from the sixties: Danny Hegan, Frank Brogan More recently: Couñago, Murphy, Geraint Williams, Kiwomya, D'Avray [Post edited 19 Apr 2020 20:37]

Best loyal servant team on 13:35 - Apr 19 with 1809 views | itfcjoe | From those I saw Live: ----------------------------Wright------------------------ Chambers------Linighan-------Wark----Yallop -----------------------Skuse-------------------------- ---------------Holland----Magilton---------------- ----------------------Dozzell-------------------------- -----------------Stockwell--Scowcroft------------ That is literally the only XI I can put out, bar Craig Forrest. (Cole Skuse is missed off your list) I could go 3 at the back with Stockwell RWB and shift Chambers over and then put Dozzell as a second striker with Scowy but balance of this works better for me

Best loyal servant team on 13:51 - Apr 19 with 1765 views | PJH | Warky was great but he is on your list twice. Cooper should be on your list. From that my team would be:- Bailey Burley Hunter Beattie Mills Viljoen Wark Elsworthy Magilton Crawford Phillips Viljoen the more advanced of the midfield but no natural width, not a bad team though.

Well unless people are approaching this from the "seen play" angle I think it's impossible to argue with that back four. But on that point, I just missed seeing Bailey, Elsworthy and Phillips. Do you think Lambert would be a suitable replacement for Elsworthy to get a little width in the side?

If I was playing a natural wide player from that list I would have Clive Woods ahead of Mick Lambert. Lambert was certainly more consistent but Woods on his day was unplayable, something that I don't think Lambert ever really was. Jimmy Leadbetter of course nominally played wide although he was not a winger as such.

Kevin O'Callaghan another one. Not a bad player but still not sure why we signed a winger at a time that we did not really play wingers.

Almost same as mine, though I'd go Mariner, Crawford up front, and possibly Dozzell for Elsworthy or Magilton. It shows how short a time even some old favourites stay at your club that same who are etched in folklore never got anywhere near 200 appearances. [Post edited 19 Apr 2020 16:02]

That can't disguise the fact that Stockwell never really trained hard enough in the goalkeeping role to earn himself a place.
