Missed half the first half trying to get iFollow to work on a smart tv.... 20:52 - Sep 5 with 4063 viewsITFC_Forever

With no success.

Ended up watching it via the computer.

HDMI lead is your friend!

Annoying that iFollow doesn’t have a chromecast option mind you.

Was at mate’s house and we were in a rush.

Will do that next time!

That said, I can’t do Tuesday, Wigan game is on Sky anyway, by the time of the next home game we might only have one more to suffer on tv before ST holders are back in the ground.

You can cast the tab if you use google chrome, agreed it’s annoying though as it’d be simpler if I could just cast it from the app on my phone rather than having to get the laptop out.

Doubt I’ll bother with Tuesday, not at £10.

Yes exactly, it’s why I don’t understand about all the moaning about iFollow when it’ll only potentially be two home league games without fans.

Or even better if it would play on the Smart TV. Why won't it?

Tried it a couple of times via a browser in a smart tv, can never get it to load once you’ve logged in. Can only assume it’s blocked to stop pubs playing it?

If you don’t have a laptop to hand, could always try something like this:

Thanks, I can watch it on the laptop but would prefer on TV and without the hassle of connecting it. Seems relying on the laptop is likely the best option at the moment.

The trick is to get the stream working on the computer first, as a fall-back, and THEN faff about.

I've cast the tab using chrome before, but the video then isn't as smooth

As for why it won't play on a smart TV, it'll be because the browsers on those aren't full fat and will be missing all the codecs and plugin etc

That’ll explain it then.

Mate in question doesn’t have a laptop, but a proper computer in the dining room, whereas his smart tv is in the lounge, so an HDMI cable from one to the other wasn’t an option.

I think the logistics might mean it's a lot longer. Although as an away fan for most games I'm very worried I'll not see anything live for months if not all season.

Can see the club trying to fit 9k people in going wrong unfortunately even with bubbles and spacing the like it'll be too much of an obstacle for a chunk of fans. I assume they will have to stream games for a while yet.

In an ideal world we'd need none of this etc but given schools went back this week and winter is approaching I can see more disruption to come for everybody.

I think the quality and restrictions are very annoying for £10 a match. I had to turn the video quality to the lowest setting to stop it buffering and I have a 60 download speed. And I can cast BT sport from my phone to my TV so why on earth do ifollow block it? I'll watch the free games but I'm not paying £10 again

I reckon it's to stop pubs putting the games on easily. They had a couple of piracy warnings/appeals where people were asked to email in if they were in a pub showing it.

Baffling. Hopefully all this prompts a move to pay per view/club subscriptions in the future. It's only going to help clubs in general to add more revenue streams as nobody supports a lower league club who will be swayed to stop going to live games if they can get there. Prem clubs have shown fully they don't need fans at the ground to rake in their cash either.

Interesting. I was in the car and had my phone tethered to my laptop, and the stream only buffered 2 or 3 times for about 5 seconds each during the whole second half
