If selling Jackson meant getting in a wide man, would you be happy with Garbutt? on 14:02 - Sep 15 by ITFC_Forever
Because Garbutt will accept a wage of £1500 - £2000????
If he's training with Everton what are the chances they sign him and loan him to a league one club as a favour to him? They pay him £5k a week and we pay them £260k loan fee...if that is within the rules.

I mean, without knowing the full details, it's not as if he's awash with offers at the moment?
He's just earned £28k a week for 5 years at Everton, I can't imagine he's short of a pound or 2. 1 season here (or any other salary capped club for that matter) will raise his profile that'll either a) help said club get promoted and then back earning to what he wants in the Championship or b) plays well enough to get himself a good move elsewhere on more money.

I'd like Garbutt, probably left midfield, but is he really a wide man? I think that may have been part of his career problem. Sweet left peg and all that, but not a great defender nor blessed with noticeable pace or, failing that, a trick or two.
To those saying that he wouldn't accept what wages we were offering, he's earning nothing at the moment. Clearly no Championship clubs are interested so he's going to need to take the wage cut if he wants to play.
Is there anything in the rules that prevents us putting in a massive "promotion bonus" and paying him a very small basic?
"Payments directly linked to a Club’s progression in cup competitions or promotion are excluded from the Cap, while any income generated from players going out on loan is deducted from the Club’s Salary Cap calculation."
I don't think we need to do that business. Although we're stacked with players who can play on the right of a front 3, the benefit of Jackson is also as a foil in a 2 upfront. We saw what he could do last season in that role in terms of both assists and goals, and he's consistent.
Unless he pushes for a move I'd resist any offers. The squad as it stands is fine even if left wing is a bit light, with only really Freddie who's had a lot of experience in that role.
