Saw them at UEA a few years ago, they are fantastic live.

They slipped under my radar a bit. Sit Down was a huge hit when I was at Uni, and that was about as far as it went for a bit. And then about a decade later I listened to a a few albums and couldn't believe what I'd missed out on. There's some excellent stuff in their back catalogue. I imagine live they are very good - he seems like a real performer.

I think they were sick of only being known for Sit Down and refused to play it live for years and years, I think they’ve only pretty recently started performing it again in their sets.

I saw them supporting New Order 1n 1983, supporting The Smiths in 84 and at the Womad festival in 85. They were a cracking live band, and one of my faves at the time. I also have a signed single bought in Parrot Records but just looks like someone scribbled Tim on the label so not really sure about that.

I'm sorry you had to endure the Smiths. I'm sure James made up for it though

Good to see The Smiths at the time but I remember being more up to seeing James again, they were excellent.
After the New Order gig, back in Ipswich bought Hymn from a Village by James and Something Outside by The Wake, the other supporting band that night. The Wake never seemed to get any recognition but a real fine band. Would strongly recommend giving them a listen.
