They agreed that the vaccine would be shared by population and Brussels would negotiate for all to get a better deal. Little countries like the U.K. would be left out in the cold and there was plenty of rage in the country last year that we didn’t join the collective effort when offered.
EU Procurement appears late and inadequate along with slow vaccine approval. The collective approach has not gone well in this instance or hidden the differences between countries. The Germans grabbed another 30m vaccines despite the collective agreement. Others are going for the Chinese and Russian vaccines. I find it rather odd that the EU is shouting the odds about the AstraZeneca supply cut of 60% when they haven’t even approved it.
Supply was always going to be a problem as nothing like this on such a scale has been done before by these companies, but in procuring volumes early from multiple sources appears to be the right decision. Things will improve supply wise for U.K. and EU as the summer progresses.

Never mind the commissioners and various presidents will no doubt get the first jabs.

Probably a rumour, but I read yesterday that vaccination of Brussels officials and their staff is a priority and they are setting up a centre to do it. It wouldn’t surprise me as I worked with a couple of people a few years ago who’d worked there and their view was that it’s a world of privilege and awash with money.

That sounds like an absolutely classic example of fake news to be honest.
They seem to be saying that they will be vaccinated in the same order, and at the same time, as the general populace? Over 65’s and over 45’s with pre existing conditions in March.
That’s surely entirely reasonable and absolutely not what was being implied in the previous posts.

I'd say you're probably right, as long as there's no priority for EU staff - I couldn't see a definative answer on that. ie does this Belgium category 1b open up to all people at the same time or is that centre first?
Has anyone ever looked at their own postings for last day or so? Oh my... so sorry. Was Ullaa

Kindly point to the EU evangelists then.
That's a horrible question! I'm talking about a general mood and previaling group opinion on here, which is of course a very subjective thing to judge.

I can’t see anything that suggests that at all, and indeed the article lists the timescales for the whole of Belgium which are exactly the same. The centre is also for vaccinating local people.
The EU is hugely flawed, of course it is, but this has the feel of a load of bo11ocks to me.

I think we're agreeing - there's not enough info in those articles at least, to make a firm judgement.

That’ll be a no then.
There’s been quite a bit of discussion on here about the relatively poor response within the EU to vaccine rollout. Perhaps you’ve missed it. Brazil1982 is a bit of a Brexit Barry, a one trick pony. I’m not sure your radar is great on these things. You could stick to your specialist areas, Ulla, superior football and family fanny.

I added a thread on this myself and have been in one of my obsessive phases of twtd-ing so I've probably seen more than most.
I'd say that compared to the number of threads on criticising the UK govt response to the virus, there's been very little comment on this EU failing. If you disagree, kindly point me to them all!
I know Brazil whatever is a brexiter / righty, but that doens;t mean he/she is wrong on everything.
You're right in one sense though, I am very good at family fanny.
