Ashton and Lee Johnson at Bristol City 10:53 - Sep 15 with 2595 viewsblueysbackside

For those who have mentioned it in other posts, this might help.....

Lee Johnson lost six on the trot in his first full season at B City under Ashton.
He also had a run of 1 win in 14 (I think they lost 11 or 12 of those games).
He still kept his job.
I doubt Ashton is gonna tell his bosses to pull the trigger any time soon

Lee Johnson was Steve Lansdown’s (City Billionaire owner) pet project. It was with a very heavy heart he eventually sacked him.

I wouldn’t draw any similar correlation with Cook and Ashton….Ashton turned Cook down for the City job last summer. But on the flip-side, surely Ashton had some input at the time Cook was appointed?

Apparently not. Cook was hired at the beginning of March, before the takeover was finalised. Ashton did not start work until June.

The timing of Cook's appointment was very strange, with the Gamechanger deal not sealed at the time he is ostensibly an Evans appointment (I know, I know, it could have been part of the deal that Evans got rid of Lambert - but then why not leave the seemingly successful Matt Gill in charge until the deal was done?) Is Cook just a patsy for the new owners - if he does well they pat themselves on the back, if he fails then he is got rid of as a typical hangover from the previous failed regime? But in the latter case, why then allow him to spend so much assembling his own squad and coaching staff?

There is commentary from Marcus Evans that Gamechanger were consulted re Cook’s appointment, as the deal was close to being signed off, and Gamechanger stated that Cook was on their very very shortlist.

So Cook is very much a Gamechanger appointment.

.....seriously you must have something better to do.

I know you support possibly the dullest football club in the entire history of football, but really.

Haven't you got a major trophy to not go and win?

But also an Evans appointment,,,and Evans still has a stake in Ipswich Town alongside Gamechanger. I wonder if Gamechanger consulted Evans on Ashton's appointment?

I don't 100% agree with this. There were rumours that PC offered to resign after the takeover went through. I heard it from a pretty good source inside the club. Seemed like PC was told it was investment, not a takeover

2nd dullest. You are forgetting Reading.

Which is easy to do.

“ There is a promise from the company to invest in the club and it’s understood club staff, including manager Paul Cook, were informed of the deal this morning, with Evans insisting one of the conditions of the deal was the need to stick with and support the incumbent manager.”

So it looks pretty clear that Gamechanger were happy with Cook.

He'd already been appointed, he was the incumbent.

If he was a GameChanger appointment, then why would Evans have needed to insist he remains in post?

He's actually starting to make me miss that weird bloke with the Pompey obsession.

I'm one of the people who was blamed for getting Paul Cook sacked. PM for the full post.

Joe won't see me reply.so if anyone else can reply to me instead that would be great..

The terms of supporting PC... could it be for the duration if his contract... am I right in thinking it ends in the summer?

No one would agree to a clause in a purchase meaning they can’t lose the incumbent manager until the end of his contract.

Imagine he did a Laurie McNenemy and took them straight to the bottom.

Oh.
