How about that Wilson lad. He's played the vast majority of the league games at table-topping Plymouth, and he was player of the year at his last club, albeit that they are closer to the relegation zone than the playoffs, but you've got to start somewhere...
I would not trust Cook to identify a defensive improvement to a squad, and I certainly would not trust him to coach them once they are here. Our defence is worse than last year, having been expensively ripped apart.

I don't think we'll be looking for a new manager but Wilson was a blatant mistake, Cook was too keen to throw the baby out with the bathwater and make a big statement, chucking players into the U23s or getting rid. I rather think it will be another season before this properly gets sorted. |  | | |

And it doesn't matter who we play there - KVY, Donacien, Coulsen, Penney, Edmundson, Nsiala, Woolfenden, Burgess... we've had a mix of all eight this season and still leak like a sieve. Maybe the issue goes above and beyond the players? | |

Defence is simply not Cook’s strength, he’s all about attack and really if you’re going to dismantle and rebuild a team you should start at the back; and there’s no-one on the coaching staff with the credentials to sort it out. | | | |

We aren't getting anymore defenders so I wouldn't think that.
Penney has got the blame and rightly so for the goal and their other chance.
But the first goal, no1 is following up. The striker runs between the 2 CBs and gets a tap in.
The second goal Nsiala is not marking anyone, is on his heals and the guy just runs past him.
The defence has been piss poor all season. the 9th game out of 15(?) that we've conceded 2 or more. We've only scored more and 2 twice, ironically keeping clean sheets with them haha

I don't believe Donacian was ill until the morning of the match and thus it was too late to get KVY to Plymouth. Possibly could have used a helicopter I guess but that's quite a statement for one player and maybe none were available?

I think with JD, Edmundson and Coulson we have 3 solid defenders there.
However, we need at least another 2 cut from the same cloth. Mainly because in some games, we might want to employ KVY / Penney type forward full-backs, and in other games (like yesterday) we might want to just shut up shop. We need the flexibility to do both imo.
For me the Goalkeeper position is still not sorted. Since Bart left, we have
struggled in this area. We have 3 keepers at the club, who could all take that number 1 shirt, but all three are not making a strong enough statement. | |

Walton has done nothing wrong since that Bolton game (where the defence just parted in front of him). He's comfortably our best keeper and a keeper that has played pushing 100 games at Championship level. | | | |

Donacien and Burns were both ill - they knew Burns may not be well enough to play and he travelled to Plymouth separately. Donacien may have fell ill later on, without warning, but it sounds like Burns was always a risk. | |
