Ey?! Don’t understand your stats In micks last season the football was SOOOOOOO bad we didn’t get above 21k at home (apart from 24k 0-1 loss to Norwich… the attendances were WOEFUL… unbelievably bad… 13k and 14k against good championship teams You can’t win games in front of 21k+ people when there are no 21k crowds As for 16/17… well a draw with Norwich at 24k… then another woeful set of attendees- id forgotten just how low they were in that season as well.. AND the only other 21k+ attendance that season was Newcastle when we won 3-1!!!!!!

To be fair, the OP makes no mention of that stat referring only to home games - we have won in front of more than 21k since then, just not at Portman Road.

Even the 91-92 season saw very very low crowds early in the season. 9k at a few home games such was the apathy. Crowds slowly nudged up around xmas with a bumper 17k in for Blackburn. The fact we’re averaging around 20k in division 3 whilst not even (yet) playing well is kinda ridiculous.

Imagine if it all really does come together! It’s funny the reactions I get when I speak to people here in South America about Town, and they’re often shocked by the depth to the professional game in England when I show them the stadium or tell them about the crowds we get. For context, I follow a small but established top flight team here in Chile, which probably averages about 2000 as an average attendance.

Apathy is a good word for that period. For the first game of the season against Port Vale, the crowd was under 9000. The odd thing was.that we looked like we were going to be in with a shout from early in the season, even the Jan/Feb crowds were 10-13k. The following season in the Premier League, where the crowd was limited to just over 20k, there were plenty of occasions where PR was a long way from full, including the first game of the season at 16,818.

You never said home matches. Yes, attendances are better now we have better entertainment and football is an entertainment business. However, we still played in front of higher attendances overall thanks to higher quality opposition and the football under Hurst and Lambert really wasn't any better. It is the period under them where we haven't won in front of 21K - we did under MM plenty of times. But it is water under the bridge. His time was up and we will hopefully be very happy with Cook this time next year. It is certainly better entertainment.
