My family home is on fire! We're a really big family, and we've actually known about the fire for quite a while, even though some of us refused to believe it for a strangely long time. Some of the adults had been essentially arguing that the fire was in the fireplace and all was normal, even though the downstairs curtains and most of the dining room were quite well alight.
Now the whole family has finally agreed that the house is actually on fire (well, apart from a few crazy cousins) and the adults have been having a meeting about who is going to telephone the fire brigade. I don't think that they have decided yet who is going to pay for the call, but they are quite proud of themselves that they have agreed that it was piling up too much coal in the fireplace that started it all off.
Mum and Dad have got everyone to agree to probably use a bit less coal in the future, even though a couple of aunties weren't too happy. Uncle Samuel has mostly kept quiet, and Uncle Bruce has had his fingers in his ears. Some of the kids are asking why we need to use any coal at all, because the stairs are giving off quite a lot of heat now anyway.
I think the kids are really starting to get pissed off actually, because it's beginning to look very much like the house will have burnt down before it's their turn to look after it. I think they might soon chuck the adults out onto the street so they can work out a plan for how they are going to make some sort of shelter from the wreckage. They know that they won't be able to have too many children themselves, and that they will have to cut down on luxuries like pets and houseplants, but they really don't want to leave the house altogether, because they know that there is not another one for them to move into.
I think there is a case for criminal charges against those who have led the disinformation campaign against climate science. We have been delayed in addressing the imperative for decades by an unholy alliance of right wing shills, Big Oil and compliant media
I am struggling to think of a suitable punishment for those who have pushed us so far down this path before finally acknowledging the Inconvenient Truth
The sanction needs to demonstrably fair, proportionate, just and not be seen as vindictive
Maybe....lowered naked into a vat of boiling sulphur?
Locked in a car, which is then set on fire?
Or the more traditional .......head on a spike on the approach to Tower Bridge
I was, belatedly, watching the BBC Panorama 'Can Biden Unite America?' a couple of days ago and was struck by the way a Trump flag waving woman of a certain age strode up to reporter Hilary Anderson and shouted 'Blah, blah, blah, blah' in her face as she interviewed a worried Democrat. Now I am not saying that Greta is a plant (although she is a vegan, isn't she?) but the effect of dumbing down that happens as a result of internet memes affects all sides unfortunately.

Being made a lifelong season ticker holder at Carrot Road?
Not being allowed to listen to anything other than Status Quo?
Denied the opportunity to ever try the wonder that is Battenberg cake...actually that last one is a bit too draconian.
On a related note, it did occur to me that the recent sudden drop in Tory polling after years of the government being sleazy and incompetent might have a lot to do with Boris taking an “active” role in Cop26.

If you want to find the fiercest climate change deniers, chuck a stone* at a group of Tories and you’ll probably hit one.
*A figurative stone, of course.
I get your point but have they haemorrhaged support to a non-environmentally aware party (does the Brexit Party still exist in some form) or has it shifted to Labour/Green/LibDems?
I really do hope the electorate (well some of us anyway) are finally saying enough is enough of the corruption but share your concern that it isn't. Even if it is, by the time we get to the next election will the electorate remember/care? Depressingly, it will probably come down to the best slogan once again.

I can’t say at the moment. Reform UK hops around a bit between 2-5% and you imagine the worst offenders could end up there.
I wonder if they’ll try and tap into any possible dissatisfaction.
But as you say, will any of that or the general worthlessness of this government be remembered by the next election? It looks like their fan base always comes back in the end, when push comes to shove.
But if you ignore it on the grounds it isn’t happening and isn’t your fault wont some clever people magic up an answer or an interstellar fire brigade come to the rescue?

They can’t get close enough to put the fire out, people glued to road

The individuals concerned should be stripped of all their wealth and made to live in poverty in somewhere like Bangladesh, where the impact of global warming is very high.
