Strikers 18:05 - Feb 12 with 2060 views | LeoMuff | Not sure any of them will be around next season, Jackson did ok today but not enough if we want to be top 2 next season, Bonne can’t score for toffee at present and Nors looking shocking last two sub appearances. We were the best side today for me but lacked cutting edge

Strikers on 20:16 - Feb 12 with 1853 views | Veggie | I reckon McKenna will be looking for a striker with pace who can finish, along the lines of a League One version of Rashford. This must be why he seems to like Jackson, who actually played pretty well today and surprisingly won a lot of headers, but he doesn’t quite have the technique or natural finishing instinct that we need. Basically we need to bring the next Darren Bent through, agree though, not sure any of what we have are going to suit McKenna, though most will probably be gone anyway. I would imagine a pacy finisher who can control the ball will be a priority, and if we can't find one to buy maybe there will be a season long loan for somebody.

We might have one in the making… Tyreece Simpson. That is if he feels as though he fancies being here.

How quick is he? I've really liked what I've seen of him in video clips but never seen him live. He looks a real handful, I can imagine him being really disruptive to a backline once he gets a bit more experience.

From the little I've seen of him he looks raw. Direct and strong but not the greatest control, and maybe not the sort of player to bring others into the game. What we need, if we're playing with our two 10s, is a Pablo Counago type up front who can receive the ball from any angle, hold off centre-backs (or draw a foul), and then play Chaplin/Celina/Aluko in. That one player would turn this team into a decent Championship team, imo.

Strikers on 23:51 - Feb 12 with 1515 views | mattyhollandsirish | Yeah, we said this before game today. Could easily see Bonne, Norwood, Jackson and Piggot all go in summer. Thought Jackson done alright today, but he's not good enough for what he want, I like Norwood but he's not great technically and injury record since here is obviously poor. Bonne looks a shadow of the player at start of season and Piggot is possibly Fraser 2.0.

He’s quick enough. He was a pretty athletic rugby player before he turned his hand to football. He is very raw though. As has been said elsewhere, it remains to be seen whether he wants to be here long term.

I know I'm in a minority here but I'd be interested to know what Pigotts return from a 17 game run in the side would be?.... I'd wager more than 1goal??...to me he looks bereft of confidence knowing he only gets a 90 minute shot at staying in the side at best. [Post edited 13 Feb 2022 22:25]

Agree completely. Pigott would be the closest to the counago-type we've got in terms of ball control and vision but he lacks pablo's strength. The second striker (bench option) would have to be the quicker more direct version that we could use when counter-attacking. Bonne's perfect for this job, just needs to find some form. Says a lot about how bereft of confidence he is that Jackson's playing ahead of him. Maybe the whole being an ipswich fan is starting to weigh heavy - trying too hard.
