There's no time to waste, for your children's sake if not for your own. It is very real, very imminent, and we can still do things to at least make things not quite so bad.

For those who think this is just a bit of hot weather... on 11:12 - Jul 18 with 1681 views | STYG | I fear the sort of people you need to appeal to at this stage are the sort of people that could read something like that an still dismiss it. Furthermore, as much as we can all try and do our little bit (and I personally will), it's like turning up to the aftermath of Pompeii with a dustpan and brush. As long as our government and all the other major ones continue to do nothing, our children and their children are screwed. You could argue it's too late. As you say, we can do our bit to make it not so bad but I'm very angry about how the world has dealt with this. Basically a collective 'it won't affect me much so sod it'. So depressing. Likewise, the people saying the climate has always changed. It has. But when it goes from 20 degrees to 21 degrees over a million years and then goes from 21 degrees to 22 degrees in a fortnight, you should probably take notice you morons.

Agree with this. Its Ok us "little people" doing our bit, but unless these leaders actually do something meaningful, its only a small bit which will ultimately do nothing or slow it down very little.

We all know by now that politicians with honourable intentions that want to make tough, unpopular decisions for the good of the world now can't get in let alone those who want to do it to make some unquantifiable difference in decades. We are fooked. If covid was so mental right now we should all be in lockdown and one of these five idiots stated that's what they'd do, they'd effectively be finished. Politics is about saying what people want to hear now and then doing nothing about any of it.

Either you agree or you don't. How can you both agree there's a major issue and still call others who say the same 'prophets of doom'? Both statements can't be correct at the same time unless you consider yourself to be a prophet of doom too. Seeing this a lot now. The "Hur hur, I'm so above all this" with the caveat "mind you I agree". Some sort of fragile ego thing where people think they are still 16 years old and trying to keep up a front for their mates? It doesn't come across how you'd like. [Post edited 18 Jul 2022 12:16]

100% agree. This needs to be continuously pushed, to an annoying extent, until real change it realised. People need to be bored hearing about it. It's incredible to me more time is spent talking about which candidate is the most "woke" than something that threatens all of us. Of course we basically can only vote, other than some forms of direct action. [Post edited 18 Jul 2022 12:15]

I think the direct action thing will become both larger and more violent despite the best efforts of the Party and the Stasi to suppress it. Timescales seem to be compressing perhaps more quickly than anyone expected, and a lot of people realise this. Hopefully, the proximity of the 5 year horizon of your typical politician's conscience might actually trigger some real action around the world, which would also tend to 'protect' them from the protests. Let's just hope that the inevitable convergence of intention between even the most ideologically opposed doesn't come too late.

The Guardian love to paint a gloomy "worst case scenario" picture of everything. Be it climate change, war in ukraine, Brexit, whatever. Well that's in between articles about holidaying in Provence and some woman's personal account of dating during her menopause. And to answer your last point dont really care how I come across to you. Your opinion matters sh1t to me!

For those who think this is just a bit of hot weather... on 13:04 - Jul 18 with 1092 views | solomon | Listening to the ensemble of corrupt half wits who are fighting to lead the country for the next 2 years, they were very clear that they were not, as they put it, prepared to let the COP 26 agreement go ahead at the expense of the uk economy, that pretty much means the environment is less valuable than money, a conservative government is NOT a green government or one that truly believes climate change must be our priority.
