I believe we can sell the club to Hirst. Getting Harness wouldn't have hurt as seems they became friends.
Blackburn seem to be main club interested but reportedly having to sell Brereton first. In which case Pompey may have been willing to hold out for Hirst if still a chance.
With Hirst being left out of Leicester squad it does scream fee agreed, so hopefully that means us only - but not a surprise if another Championship club has also agreed one.

A striker Cook was very keen on last summer I believe.
Not the type of centre forward KM would like, but think will do well under Cowley's style.
Hirst - think we will still lose out to Championship sides, but the figure of £1.5M I think I read yesterday looks very steep to me - only really had half a good season at Pompey, only scored one more goal than Bonne last season, only has 1 year on his deal IIRC.

Indeed, we can beat a lot of those clubs in terms of wages but we can't offer them Championship football.
I guess there's two ways you get it done - by being the only team to meet the demanded transfer fee or by selling a role and a trajectory (you'll be the main man going forward, Blackburn will be taking you as a punt/squad player etc.).

I think there's definitely something in the expectation of playing regularly. Dobra could have gone to a higher division but probably wouldn't have played week in, week out, which is what he needs at this point in his career, same with Hirst and Lief Davis.
Equally, they could look at going to the Championship and see what's happened to Flynn Downes after a decent season at that level. On the other hand, if things don't go well with their next move, if they've dropped to Town, then they'd be a player who had failed at League One level and their following club will be with a smaller League One club probably. If they go to the Championship and things don't go well, then it would be a smaller Championship club or upper League One club they end up at.

For sure, although Hirst specifically has already set his career back once with an unsuccessful stint as a Championship squad player...

And also by moving to Belgium! Definitely in a situation where he needs to be a first-team player playing regularly.
His move to Belgium was due to getting round the compensation package to Sheffield Wednesday at the time. Leicester had been after him for some time, but couldn't agree a deal. He joins Leicesters sister club in Belgium for a poultry compensation fee, then heads to Leicester after a year ..... (hardly pulled up any trees out in Belgium either).
