Thanks to Roger Waters, I have learned that NATO is the aggressor in the Ukraine invasion.

China are the good guys

Plenty of people believe all of the above. Is inevitable that someone who is also rich and famous would share those views.

It’s always remarkable that China and Russia sympathisers never have any desire to live there.

Mind you, the irony is since both countries have blocked Twitter he wouldn’t be able to share his edgy hot-takes.

They aren't valid views though, they are either lies or selectively edited versions of the actual situation.

Someone with his platform and access to media shouldn't really be allowed to outright lie and have it publicised. He can have the views, however, the media shouldn't be propagating them as some kind of equivalence to the reality.

Love Floyd and Waters music. Not interested in his politics to be fair. As with most 'celebs', they have a platform to publicise their views ,so they do.

He goes too far and seems to have adopted a narrative of his own. But it's no more loopy than the narrative that NATO and the west are completely blameless in the over a decade long build up to the Russain invasion. When, let's not forget, Putin was courted by Western politicians, and even excused for the Crimea annexation by the same people screaming blue murder now.

Oh and the 6 people was clearly a throwaway line. He's saying the US suffered much, much worse losses than China – or South East Asia as a whole, no doubt because of greater understanding and experience from other recent epidemics.

But keep on battling and smearing the left, and supporting the status quo. That's working out an absolute treat.

The narrative that NATO made Russian invade Ukraine is deeply flawed in my opinion. The Russian invasion was driven by Putin's lust for historical boundaries he liked looking at on old maps during lockdown.

Same with the China narrative, some countries in the far East did very well, China however forcefully dragged people from their flats on hunches, restricted investigations into the origins of the outbreak and continue to lockdown huge cities for political reasons.

Sometimes left-wing people can be wrong, it happens.

I don't believe China's official figures of 5,000+ are accurate. But there's no doubt that they and other countries in South East Asia contained the epidemic and suffered significantly lower fatalities than the US or indeed Europe.

But either way they haven't been hiding 3-4 million deaths that would put it on the US level relative to population.

Oh and yes, China is clearly not better at maintaining human rights and clearly finds it easier to adopt more authoritarian and draconian measures too.

On its own it's flawed. But so is the narrative that this has come as a surprise to NATO or anyone in the West.

If we drop the narratives and look at how we've actually handled Putin over the past couple of decades, we've basically followed our own self-interest rather than taking a principled stand earlier.

That doesn't make Putin or an aggressive Russian invasion right of course. Far from it, Putin and Russian forces bear responsibility.

But seems particularly asinine to deny that there have been sphere of influence games going on at the side and that those have added to tensions rather than de-escalating the situation.

Cheers. Yeah, it's not a black/white binary thing although I appreciate that in a war and to rightly support the innocent Ukrainian population people will get drawn into taking a side and sticking with it on every aspect.

The recent silliness and uproar over the Amnesty criticism of Ukrainian forces is a case in point. It's a war and both sides will do things that go against human rights. An organisation that monitors these things isn't picking sides on the war itself.

West was too nice to Putin:

“Putin was courted by Western politicians, and even excused for the Crimea annexation”

West was too mean to Putin:

“sphere of influence games going on at the side and that those have added to tensions rather than de-escalating the situation”

Must be some way I can blame the decadent imperialistic West over the corrupt, violent despot!
