How good was that header from Keogh in the last minute? 09:18 - Oct 22 with 2372 viewsGlasgowBlue

Ridiculous that we can bring in a Championship player in the dying minutes to help protect a lead.

I though Fridge and Woolfy were the digs bollox as well last night. Plus we have Burgess coming back soon.

Dies any other League one team have such a strong group of defenders?

Was only a month ago that a few posters were saying we needed a new CB in January.

It was absurd, we have a wealth of talent in that area as you've highlighted. Let's not forget JD in there either. When he came across to the left to cover in the first half yesterday he dragged it back between the attackers legs when he was shielding it - it was lovely.

I would try and stick with Wolf and Edmundson as much as possible as I think they have a higher ceiling and could be a great combination in the Championship.

I think one or both of Fridge and Woolfenden will be playing in the Championship next season. Regardless of whether we are promoted or not.

Davis was a bit of a liability when it came to defending, but the other three were so good, it didn't make a difference. Had Gregg Leigh been available, I think he would have replaced Davis, especially as Davis didn't do much from an attacking point of view.

Both are pretty decent CB's just need some coaching on how to score from corners but defensively they are good .

Donacien had a (very rare) poor performance last night in my opinion.

He gave away the ball multiple times with sloppy passes that a Plymouth or Sheff Weds quality outfit would have probably punished.

Rare though, and just an off night for him.

Agree on the coaching of headers, but maybe this is something that can't be taught. Height may come into it as well as our defenders aren't especially tall but even when we get a free header we rarely get it on target. Slightly ironic that the best header this season came from our goalkeeper, but then again he does have the height.

How many goals are you expecting your CBs to score?

What it the average? I bet it's less than 2 per season across the leagues and Edmondson has one already.

I recall Davis making one defensive mistake in the second half, but was pretty sound otherwise. Derby had done their homework and did not allow him free rein to charge forward. I thought Burns was the pick of the Town team , particularly in the first half. He seemed to present the real threat to Derby.

Agree. We will not hold on to them without promotion. Can't believe Morsy is at this level either. He is head and shoulders our best player imho.

In the first half, he was beaten down the left several times as I could quite clearly see from SBR upper, and managed to get away with one mistake when the opposition player slipped. In the second, that was less the case, but he gave away possession in dangerous positions a few times.

I remember at least two occasions where he gave the ball away in dangerous positions trying to be too intricate with passing in our own third. Looks a good player though, and his decision making can be improved upon.

Not sure why you’ve been downvoted, your comments are fair. Many thought he was off it a bit last night, happens. He didn’t play great at Plymouth either. In the main though, he’s been fantastic.

Strange to pick on Davis, I thought he was far better than Donacien on the other side. JD was ponderous and frequently gave it away, looked frustrated with himself.

Agreed. It looked like the Sky cameras and big crowd got to Donacien, since he was way off his usual level of performance (he was also a bit slack against Lincoln imho).

JD’s form has just dipped a bit in the last couple of games. As a Div 3 player it’s not surprising and I’m sure he’ll be back to normal soon.

I thought generally both teams gave the ball away a lot and several players lost their footing a lot too. I didn't notice Donacien being any worse than others for this, personally. Did fine defensively and took a knock that forced him off.

Apart from that ridiculous bit of play in the second half where he won the ball and brought it forward beating the same defender.
