Going back 25 years, 92 points has always been more than enough to secure second place in the third tier.
Even in a season like the last one, with a number of particularly strong teams at the top and weak ones at the bottom, third place only registered 89 points. 90 is about the highest over that 25-year period. |  |

Ugly run of fixtures, especially with our squad situation. And Oxford have sorted themselves out a bit recently.. Fleetwood don't give much away , defensively, either. So I can see them being one of those "tough to break down" teams....
I think anything "more" than 8pts would be useful..
I can see us dropping out of the top two for a week or two, tbh, by a fine margin. And then clawing ourselves back in, once some players return from injury..
I know I sound a bit pessimistic. But that's just how I see it, atm.

A few players need to “ show” more at the sharp end, and we must defend better when we are put under pressure. We do neither of these things very well at all. Whilst impressive and a sign of the vast improvement of the team and therefore to be applauded, the 2 points per game rate is pointless (so to speak) if two other teams manage slightly more, which may be the case this year.
We really just need to concentrate on taking each game as it comes and work harder at dropping points that we shouldn't be dropping, of which there have been too far too many in recent weeks.
Hopefully we'll remain in a strong position leading into the transfer window where we stand a chance of boosting our numbers on top of returning injury cases. And I trust the management and owners to do what needs doing to get us over the line. | |

4pts from the first 3 games, so far . December always looked like a tricky one, from the day the fixtures were released. With or without injuries...
I'd take 4pts now, from the remaining two fixtures. But I'm feeling weirdly confident and recon we could scrape a couple of tight wins. A win at home against Oxford, might just give us enough of a bounce to go and get a good result at Pompey. I just hope we don't take our eye off the ball a bit in the next few weeks. No doubt, there'll be some transfer whispers floating around the squad and fan base, alike...

My initial enthusiasm for December didn’t play out as expected. In fairness, I was being optimistic in the face of many injuries. But well done to Xrayspecs and BigCommon, they both saw a 7 points haul being likely. In fact it was 8 points over the 5 December fixtures and we are well set for the pressure to start building in Jan before Feb which is the real start of the business end for the EFL. | |
