Pompey were so deep they deserved to lose the gamble 21:54 - Dec 29 with 1677 viewsMullet

Strange to bring Jackson on, but I guess Ahadme didn't make the cut but it really isn't his game when there's no room in behind. When he did capitalise on a rare mistake due to them going forward it didn't come to much.

Do feel like he needs to be allowed to just shoot first time when there's no room ahead of him, he's probably going to catch a few keepers out if he doesn't take a touch or time to place a shot.

Amazing how different it feels to take a draw rather than lose a lead at the death.

Jackson and Ahadme being our alternative options is our main weak spot isn't it?

A heat map of the second half would be intersting and painful. The one time they were in our half they scored.

Yep. Although I’d happily have Jackson and Burns as our winger/wide forward options - it’s Jackson’s better position imo. We still need a filthy number 9 goal scorer though: all elbows, niggly fouls and goals.

A lot of people seem to write Ahadme off but he’s barely had a kick. Need to see more of him

Not written him off but he is largely unproven. He may well be the answer but it is highly unlikely.

Yeah I'd like to see him a bit more but guess his injury set him back and going from Burton to us is probably quite the switch up in terms of style/position role. Shame he hasn't been around to get more used to that and there's clearly a reason that right now he's either not making the 18 or only coming on for 5 mins at the end.

Just because I don't care doesn't mean I don't understand.

We miss TJJ more than I thought we would. He was really starting to show his ability with the goals against Cambridge and Charlton getting on the end of crosses. His hold up play was good and he could also play as a 10. Jackson's talents are game specific and, as you say, when a team sits in, this is not for him. A replacement for TJJ is needed. An injury to Ladapo would currently be a big problem.

Said on another thread I think it's gone under the radar a bit how much we could have done with TJJ recently. Thought he was really getting good at that hybrid 9/10 role and was offering more of a goal threat. Different type of player to any of the other forward options we have.

Maybe he was one struggling with the bug as KMc suggested so unless we really did need to call on him then he stayed on the bench.
