Anyway, are we going up this year? on 11:14 - Jan 5 with 1654 views | itfcsuth | If we sign 2 strikers we will finish top 2 in my opinion. Fail to do so and we will be in the play-offs, which of course can be a little bit of lottery. As I've previously mentioned, Mo Eisa is one target I'd go for, the main one should still be Clarke-Harris.

Were you impressed by Clarke Harris in the recent home game ?
Anyway, are we going up this year? on 11:26 - Jan 5 with 1604 views | clive_baker | I think top 2. I've thought it for a while and still do that we have all the hallmarks of a side that will improve as the season goes on. I still think we've got a couple of gears to go though and I wouldn't be surprised to see us pick up a big chunk of points in the final 20 games. It's not blind optimism, I do think there have been a number of factors going against us in recent weeks. Injuries, illness, heavy winter pitches (including our own), some bad luck in terms of chances missed and decisions against us. It's easy to make excuses but I do think despite that we've largely played well, dominated tricky opponents and picked up points, albeit not as many as we would've hoped.

Why Mo Eisa? Done nothing for MK Dons this season and his record at this level is nothing special. Not of an age where there's any reason to believe he can improve either.

Agree. I think our level of performance, win lose or draw, is remarkable actually and the same again should see us fine. A couple of the right signings would rubber-stamp that.

Anyway, are we going up this year? on 11:48 - Jan 5 with 1457 views | usm | Yep All the stats seem to show we are the best team in the division and weve dominated in virtually every game. There's no reason to believe that wont continue and hopefully more things will go our way in the 2nd half of the season - assuming you believe these things even themselves out. Being more clinical in front of goal; would help - to be fair if we had been we would be way ahead by now, and maybe a January addition or two will sort that out.

Not particularly, but I'm impressed by him overall, and his goals output, especially at this level is brilliant - he is deadly in front of goal. At this level, there probably isn't anybody better within our reach.

He spent the chunk of the season injured, although has been back for a while now, but is of course in a struggling team this year. When you look at hi m operating in better teams, he has done so largely from the bench, which is probably the role he would play here. He got 12 last year, in the same system as us at MK, and got 14 for Posh, again in the same system as us. He's quick, plays off the shoulder but far more technical ability than Jackson, and ultimately a better finisher - would suit our system/style very well. Given he would be a snip you'd have thought, would be a strong opposition to add to the squad and be an option from the bench.

Indeed perhaps testament to our defending keeping him quiet. Having seen some of his goals this season (and having a decent overall record) he’s certainly a more efficient finisher than Ladapo. I find it frustrating the amount of balls that go into the box, particularly some wicked ones from Davis, with no Town player positioned remotely near the ball.

Indeed, if anybody spends 5 minutes looking at some of his goals, he is so clinical with his finishing, he's ruthless and finishes with so much confidence and conviction. I think he could be a stretch too far if I'm being realistic, but I think we have the final muscle to flex if we really really wanted to push the boat for him.

I think that whilst possession stats don't tell a particularly meaningful story, that there new-fangled xG stuff gives a much more meaningful picture of where a team is, and they say that we have been either (a) rather unlucky or (b) not quite right in the finishing and/or shot-stopping departments. If it's (a) then the law of averages (if it exists ) says that will be corrected in the second half of the season. If it's (b) then I trust the club's manager and recruitment team to correct it in the next couple of weeks. Of course, it's probably a bit of (a) and a bit of (b).
