So Cambridge was a MUST win; and Sheff Weds a must draw 09:18 - Feb 5 with 1956 viewsunstableblue

McKenna and the boys have the chance to turn it around…

Against a team of very good players, as Plymouth found out

But can the Town fans match what Sheff Weds supporters brought to their big game yesterday:

Or will we sit nervously and project our fears onto the Town players?!

Yesterday was a terrible result, and it sounded a woeful first half performance… top two looks less likely but we have to finish the season strongly and get confidence and belief into the players and fan base

That starts next Saturday

The simple truth is we are still in a very good position if our form turns right now... iIF we can beat the 4 sides we currently have to play in the top 6 and find a way to break down everybody else that will inevitably set up negatively against us we will in all likelihood go up automatically, This is a very big week for the coaching staff..
P.S. I'd urge them to SHOOT more!!!!

Why do people keep rewriting history?

Literally no one said the Sheff Wed was must not lose. It is very much must win or we can't catch them.

Truly impaired.

Love the way you attribute a very poor Ipswich performance to the fans nervousness when you weren't even there.
Confidence and performance and Pride comes from within or no-one would ever win away from home

I've not heard of a must draw but I'd definitely put it down as a must not lose

Makes a change from their fans coming dressed as blue seats.

To be fair to their fans, they were that toxic and anti-Wednesday, anti-Moore when we played them that they managed to cheat their way to a draw.

I don't think you can ask any more of our fans, who've been nothing short of remarkable throughout McKenna's reign.

The mere fact you keep saying the atmosphere has to 'restart' next week, and the week after that is just an indictment of how many times we've tripped ourselves up lately.

It's understandable to feel jittery. The players need to step up to the plate and show us what they're genuinely made of.

Enjoying how your weekly polemic has moved from how wonderful the football is, and how all your pretend mates are coming back to watch us - to now insinuating that the root cause of our problem is our nervous fans.

Of all that is not right at the moment (and, despite the last 2 months, we still might somehow make this season a success), the support of this club is remarkable.

You probably don't get to blame the fans if you didn't bother going. Support was immense from the penalty save until about 80th minute when it was obvious we wouldn't score.

I know that was then, but it could be again..

If anything it seems positive happy support cheering the team on from a packed stadium makes the team play worse.

In the spirit of reconciliation and happiness at the end of the Banter Era (RIP) and as a result of promotion I have cleared out my ignore list. Look forwards to reading your posts!

Effing irony. You lot started turning back up under McKenna.

They’re all must wins now, and have been since that start and especially since we dropped to third. At least that’s how the team should be viewing them. Maybe settle for a point against direct rivals or if you’ve got sickness in the camp, or get shafted by injuries or the officials (or fog!). But everything else we should be looking to win.

Sheff U a credit to the league, as are we. Great support really in L1. We will be quiet at PR - we normally are and always have been. But we can turn up the noise even there when it really matters. Part of our problem imo is we still see this league below us, so don’t see these games as worth turning up the noise for.

What a truly bizarre post - are you OK?

‘Pretend mates coming back’ … do you perhaps think quite a few town fans acquaintances have been returning to Portman Road? You know with the attendances rising from 16k to 27-29k? Or are these all brand new Town fans who’ve been magicked up?!

The footballs has been wonderful at times; but we have also become very ineffective since the Charlton away capitulation. And fans are right to be concerned.

But for the the 90mins against Sheff Weds we need to park the nervousness and back the boys.

That’s all.

Cambridge a rare game I’ve missed.

Great to hear the boys were well backed. Positive.
