Sone Aluko was exceptional tonight 00:39 - Feb 8 with 2231 views | Mach_foreignBlue | His skills, his vision. Quality player who still has a lot to offer. I badly want him to start on Saturday ahead of Burns. He has to play much more often as he's still too good at this level.

Sone Aluko was exceptional tonight on 07:57 - Feb 8 with 1924 views | SaleAway | He was fabulous. But I wouldn't have him in the burns/jackson role. He's better as one of the 3 front men, as he provides a good outlet, and doesn't have the engine to do the b burns/jackson role. On that note, Jackson was fab last night, although I was massively unimpressed with their left back who won nothing all night. Jackson benefited though from space that we probably won't be given by Wednesday, who will sit in more than BUrnley did, I imagine

Sone Aluko was exceptional tonight on 08:08 - Feb 8 with 1874 views | Herbivore | I'd always have Aluko on the bench as he gives us something different but I wouldn't be playing him in the Burns role and would only start him occasionally.

Sone Aluko was exceptional tonight on 08:19 - Feb 8 with 1837 views | Leedsblue1 | The piece of play in the first half near the right touchline was unbelievable. Literally danced round x3 Burnley players and beat some of them twice! He turned into prime Messi!

That was a fantastic bit of skill and even applauded by the Burnley fans closest to it

Sone Aluko was exceptional tonight on 09:24 - Feb 8 with 1598 views | TRUE_BLUE123 | He is a great player don't get me wrong. But his output is not great. I imagine that is why he isnt starting every week, he doesn't really carry a goal threat.

I'd trust him more than Burns in that role at the moment.

Thing is goals don't just appear out of nowhere. You need players who can do things to unlock defences to let other players score, or let other players assist yet other players to score. Aluko can do that and perhaps Humphreys might also be one. They are the sort of players who will be able to unlock deeply defensive league one sides when some of our other quality players might not be able to.

His turn and pass last night created the goal, so I'm not sure that stands up.

Indeed, but won't be credited with any statistical reward for that - hence why you have to take statistics with a pinch of salt. He ultimately created the goal last night, but won't get any statistical recognition for that. Terrific player, incredible technique, incredibly intelligent, been disappointed not seeing him used more lately.

Im not criticising Aluko as a player, I would have him in the matchday squad every week and at times I would start him. But I think its clear why he doesn't play every week, we now play a front three of Burns Chaplin and Broadhead that is very output heavy and creating chances is not an issue for us, so we need reliable finishers which is what Mckenna is going for.

Despite his ability to get out of tight spaces, Aluko is another one (like Jackson) who is more effective when the game is stretched. He likes to take a few touches of the ball and against sides that sit deep that allows them to reorganize and the kind of pass he played to Jackson last night can't be played against a side sitting with 6 players in their 18 yard box. I like him as a bench option because he can either give us that creativity when the game is stretched to kill a side off or he can give us that bit of control when we need to hold on to the ball. I'm not sure he's as effective on other situations, which is why he doesn't start much and doesn't have great stats for an attacking player.
