Jim Magiltons return really felt quite magic 17:10 - Mar 19 with 2830 viewsKeno

Difficult to explain why but his coming back to the club could just be one of those ethereal events that just shows we are on the way back

Just listened to the life a pitch and must admit it brought a laugh and a tear

Maybe I’m just a bit of a soppy old ….. but to me this feels special

Welcome home Jim

Without jinxing it, and with the utmost of caution, can I hazard that maybe... just maybe... the Curse is finally lifted?

I was thinking this Friday evening when somebody posted a thread on here.
I agree, Magic being welcomed back and more importantly agreeing to come back really feels good.
I’ve always thought, he singled handedly dragged us through the Bolton home leg of the Semi.
His footwork for the Second I think it was!! Brilliant.

Was great to have him on. We spoke to him on the opening day of the season and I think helped persuade him to come back for the first time. And he took no persuading to join us in the studio yesterday and I'm sure would have stayed for the whole show had he not had other commitments down at the ground.

He carried the team that night. As an all round individual performance, I struggle to recall a better one.

It was interesting that on the Life’s a Pitch radio programme he said openly that Bolton set out to bully in that game and he/they were having none of that. No sh&* Sherlock!! I and about 20k others noticed that! His reaction to that idiot Whitlow who was in his face was classic.

His return felt to me like closure of another wound from the Evans era. Over dramatic metaphor, but it’s how it feels to me. He was clearly in good form and I hope it’s not another 14 years before he returns.

....that he didn't get the chance to have a wander onto the pitch at half time.

He would have got a great reception.

(whilst I also appreciate the value of the chat with Jason, obviously)

From a man with an Irish passport that's quite a compliment.

Great work, Phil, thank you. He was much loved here, and it's great that a sour ending to that chapter of his life hasn't proved to be the final word.

You've done a really good thing there, for him and the club.

Completely agree. It's more than a wrong being put right. It's special. Well done all involved.

Thanks, although I'm sure others played a significant role as well, but Terry in particular inviting him to the dinner might have made a mark. But we all made it obvious to him how much his return would be welcomed.

Yes, was surprised he didn't speak on the PA. I guess there was a fear that we'd not have got the second half started if he'd been given the mic.

6 years ago on my 50th birthday RKD tweeted him and asked if he would phone me and say happy birthday - which he did and we had a great chat.

RKD saw him out on Friday night and went over to him and thanked him. Right away JM replied "Oh, you must be Lucans boy"

What a man and what a memory.
