I think that's how Wednesday felt about 6 matches ago.

We are good enough to do it. I am confident. But I am not so confident to say "in the bag" yet.

I'm not sure what his angle is. A very out of character post.

Truly impaired.

Rest assured, the downvotes are just footie fans demonstrating their nervousness and superstition, no reflection on your good self, even though it was a slightly silly thing to say at this point. So I'm giving you an uppie, but don't do it again until the maths is done!

If anything, Wednesday’s form shows how quickly things can change over such a short period of time. Making a guess now, I think we’ll need a minimum of 5 wins to secure it which is easier said than done.

No, we have the toughest run of games to come Peterborough and Barnsley away for starters.

How is it? I was a bit negative when the form dropped off and it had looked like the top 2 had been blown, but now I'm being optimistic after so many consecutive wins and clean sheets, with a strong wind behind us.

Looking unplayable and unbeatable, with a manager and backroom staff who will keep feet firmly on the ground during the crucial run in. Wed's morale is probably shot to bits. Their manager apparently walked off today without acknowledging the fans in the away end.

Barnsley 6 points off with massive GD gap. Only question now is whether we end up 1st or 2nd.

I live and die by the sword. I just can't see it not happening now with 7 games left and the squad we have playing the way they are.

Of course potentially setting myself up for crushing and total disappointment.

i thought the same about sheff we a few weeks back, a couple of injuries, a change in morale can lead to sudden dropoffs.

i don't *think* it'll happen to us with a decent squad and a very level-headed manager but it's far from being in the bag

If 17 games left I wouldn't be saying it. But with 7 then even with a minor drop off I still think we limp over the line (if Weds don't suddenly go on a total burn).

Because some of us are old enough to know that in football, things can quickly go horribly wrong - a lousy refereeing decision/red card here, a serious injury to a key player there etc etc. As others have said, look at SW's drop-off over their last 3 games.

There's a difference between a massive crowd who are super-buzzed up after an exhilarating win, & realistically assessing our chances on the forum afterwards. Not to mention us superstitious ones' fear of "commentators curse-ing" ourselves. Every tiny little bit we can put towards not wrecking anything may help ... butterflies flapping wings in Yorkshire ... etc.

Thankfully, KM & the players know it's not "in the bag" till its mathematically certain, & that means they'll keep striving for great performances & points - as they need to, otherwise it won't happen. Complacency is an enemy.

Incidentally, one of our Yorkshire-based fans told me about 20 years ago that he supports Ipswich because he's always been unlucky, & that ITFC are an "unlucky" club (I'm not sure how he worked that one out given our managerial & European histories though!)

Because some of us are old enough.....? Honestly what a patronising justification. So only realistic appraisals are allowed ... but superstitions must also be honoured? I'm genuinely baffled. Basically you all just frowned and tutted at some enthusiastic fan getting a rush of blood to his typing finger after a wonderful afternoon, where unless we screw up.... we are now going up.

That's just wrong - being old enough means some of us have just experienced that much more disappointment in life generally, not just football, and have more awareness that things can happen which don't always go the way we want.

I didn't frown or tut, I just don't want anyone to do anything or have anything happen that can have the slightest fractional impact to hinder us. I think I'm allowed my superstition, just as the OP was allowed his say, just as the rest of us had the right to downvote him, and just as you had the right to downvote us for doing so & being critical - which you duly did
