Friend of a friend of a friend etc was on a stag do with Taylor and a few other ballers (Danny Mcnamara, Millwall RB stag) and he (Taylor) is desperate to sign for Millwall. Got p*ssed up and was sending picture messages to the Millwall gaffer begging to be signed.

We were, of course, targeting Taylor with the prospect of a half or full season in L1. Which is not what we have in front of us going forwards.
Being a long-winded way of saying circumstances have changed and previous targets may no longer be relevant. |  |

You don't make four bids up to nearly £2m (and presumably 3/4 year deal) for a player you intend to use for half a season to get you out of L1 though. Indeed. The changed circumstances will have opened up new possibilities. Taylor may still be a good option, but perhaps no longer the best option.
Regarding the bids, it is only logical to go all-out for the best possible target at that time. Then we got Luongo, who did an excellent job and is potentially available to re-sign. Plus new targets become available, maybe without Peterborough's habit of driving a hard bargain (or attempting to hang onto the player by pricing suitors out of the market). | |
