Any London overnight stop advice? 11:04 - Jun 13 with 1741 viewshoppy

Has anyone got suggestions of decent low cost places to stay for a Friday overnight in London next week? I'm down in London for a meeting and then was supposed to be seeing a mate for a few drinks and stopping over at his, as I'm taking my son to a Uni open day on the Saturday morning and need to meet him about 9am.
My mate has just messaged to say something's come up so he's not around now, but I didn't fancy heading all the way back to Ipswich after the meeting just to come back down early next morning, but at the same time, hadn't budgeted for a pricey hotel as well.

Low cost and London hotels don't tend to go, especially on a Friday. You'll do well to get anything under a 1er.

Best bet is probably booking.com or laterooms and seeing if there's any deals as they tend to vary so much depending on availability. I've seen the same room in the same gaff swing by 2 or 3 times the price.

We go down to London for shows occasionally and our new routine is to drive to Brentwood station, get the Elizabeth line in and out and stay at a travelodge nr Brentwood, however there is a Premier Inn right near Brentwood station though never checked what an overnight stay there costs

Finchley Travelodge £66
Stayed there recently for a night out in Camden and it was great, easily accessible off the m25, (limited) free parking and Northern Line tube station just over the road.

Cheers, I'll have a look there - I need to be on the Northern Line for the Saturday am, so that could be a good shout.

Slightly off topic but depending on the universities, if your son needs any other info about studying/living in London then I'd be happy to try and answer any questions.

Albeit I'm older than the average student (29), but I did my undergrad in the city and am now finishing my masters there so have experienced two different universities.

Might be a bit out of the way but I've stayed at the Premier Inn at Brentford. Good value and plenty of tube/rail options. There's a few decent pubs etc round there as well.

I've stayed at that Prem Inn a few times, even got a car park!

Good spot.

And a great view if you get the right room! Right over London from up there.

Just go on an all nighter. Worst case, give a copper some abuse and you'll get a free night in the cells and an early morning alarm call.

A friend of mine missed the last train from York to Leeds. He went to a few bars and then to a club where he sat in the corner doing the Guardian crossword until he went to McDonalds for breakfast and the first train.
