Watched a game in London. They let a London Irish team play and my mate (from Fermanagh) dragged me along. Fermanagh lost and I ripped the p*ss, but fiik what was going on.

Thought it was played in September tbh. Must have moved it (from 30 years ago) My first ever night in Ireland I caught the ferry to Roslairre and stopped in Kilkenny. The place was going mental (had heard of 'the craic') on a Sunday night. Turned out the hurling team had earlier won the All Ireland. Btw, we can stop the debate over Pineapple on Pizza. Am sat typing (on WiFi) in a restaurant in Italy and Hawaiian (with Annas) is amongst the offerings. :-)

The all irelands moved from September to July about 5 or so years ago to not interfere with club games

Up the Dubs!!! That was not an enjoyable game to watch defences largely on top and conditions playing their part. The mistake by Gavin White for the Dublin goal and Clifford having an off day turned the tide for us. 3 Dubs with 9 All Ireland medals is history right there. Can we have someone other than Gough ref the final next year please?

I enjoyed it, though weather definitely played its part. The Dubs had won on me over by the 2nd half. Thought they deserved it.

Depends on whether GAA allow it, which isn’t a foregone conclusion

Don't think so, the GAA grounds are really hallowed turf I.e. GAA sports only. Gaelic football, Hurling or camogie only. Croke Park is an amazing 80k plus stadium! The only other non GAA sport played there was when Landsdowne Road was being developed...which became the Aviva which is shared by the FAI/IRFU and is circa 45k capacity. The 2007-2009 six nations is when Croke Park was in play....

Talk of shinty and hurling brings to mind recent victories by Scotland over Ireland in combined shinty-hurling games. We might not be much good at football but when it comes to shinty-hurling, we rule the world. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/scotland/50278043 [Post edited 31 Jul 2023 7:39]
