Well what a coincidence on 17:42 - Aug 7 with 1666 views | factual_blue | It was a fascinating pub to visit. You thought you were drunk the minute you walked in. Fireman Neil will be keeping me updated with the fire investigation. The pub's correct name was The Glynne Arms btw.

I suspect Fireman Neil wont be able to investigate it now, as the presumed "owners" seemed to have hired a digger, some blokes who clearly know nothing about demolition and security to keep people away from the site and have knocked the building down into a pile of bricks today. its a crooked house by name alright https://www.birminghammail.co.uk/black-country/fury-crooked-house-reduced-rubble [Post edited 7 Aug 2023 22:04]

Well what a coincidence on 23:16 - Aug 7 with 1471 views | Coastalblue | Hadn't seen that, a real shame, have been in there a few times in the past. was always fun to put a coin on what appeared to be a relatively straight shelf and watch it speed to one end.

I’m guessing you probably remember it more as a farmhouse when it was first built?

Working in construction, booking machinery, workers etc for any kind of undertaking always involves a huge lead time It never ceases to amaze me that when a building needs to "disappear" quickly the demolition crew seem to be available at zero notice, in this case a few hours after the fire was extinguished. It is almost as if the new owners knew that there would be a fire and the now-unsafe building would need to be flattened. See also The Maltings in Sudbury which were demolished on a Sunday, just a day before the Listed Building order came into effect on the Monday

And before it became 'crooked'

And, in a similar vein in CO10, Eastern's whenever it was starting to look a bit shabby, the Tarantela and the old office buildings on the site of Glemsford Silk Mill.

Indeed.... I think we should have some meaningful sanction for those people who demolish wonderful old buildings. Bring back the Gallows on Gallows Hill I reckon
