Absolute joke that it had to come to that, saw a fan say how they approached lino and ref twice and got ignored whilst those who did got ejected by stewards.

| Hope the fan at the Orient game is ok on 18:36 - Oct 4 with 4283 views | BrayBlue | When did this become a “thing” in English football? Matches NEVER used to be interrupted, let alone abandoned, so that a fan could receive medical treatment. It also sets a very dangerous precedent. If your team is losing an important match just get somebody to fake a heart attack, get your mates to sit on the pitch and bingo! [Post edited 4 Oct 2023 18:38]

We don't know if time could have saved him last night. The medical team had to go round the pitch rather than across is. Those seconds could have made a difference. I get where you're coming from. But I don't think people would be faking heart attacks. Otherwise you could just hand out stadium bans to those that tried it. But if it would make things quicker.. absolutely pause the game.. We paused for 7 minutes last night whilst a bloke walked off the pitch then back on it to go down with a broken nose. But you wouldn't want a game paused to potentially save a life?

Paused, perhaps, but for an hour?! What were the Medics doing, walking in pigeon-steps only? And how does anybody know if last night was a real emergency? I very much doubt the club bothered to follow up so you can forget about stadium bans!

I hadn’t read that the fella died, and I am genuinely sorry to hear that. But my point still remains: sets a dangerous precedent that could be exploited by somebody in the future.

I’ll put my question a different way: what difference did the hour-long pause and/or the abandonment, make to the outcome for the fan who was taken ill?

It may not have have made a difference but maybe the players didn’t feel they wanted to play knowing what had happened and the fans wouldn’t have wanted to watch, perhaps it was more respectful to stop the game Sometimes football really isn’t all that important
