Preston accounts show them losing 300k a week. Not sure they’ve even come close to getting in the playoffs. Expensive hobby, football.

Am I right in thinking that under FFP they can lose £39m over three seasons, meaning that as they've lost £35m over the last two, they can only lose £4m this year? If so, then surely they're in the doo doo...

(assuming the inputs for the accounts are similar to those allowed for FFP purposes, which I appreciate they won't be exactly)

Effectively owned by a local family.

Fair play to them for continuing to fund it.

Wages 139% of revenue! Football has fully lost the plot hasn’t it (realise that Preston are far from the exception here).

And they’re spending all that money to essentially tread water. It doesn’t seem sustainable but apparently it is. It’s a mad game.

I’m no accountant, but where’s the missing £9m that was spent?

£6m loss revenue vs wages, net zero on player sales/purchases. Were they spending the rest? Executive prawn sandwiches at half time.

Where do you think costs such as travel, accommodation, insurance, electricity, medical costs, food, and the thousand other operating costs fall. How much for instance do you think it costs to keep the training ground and pitch in good order. Expensive business

Below the average Championship loss of £476,000. Chasing the premier league or even trying to stick around with those chasing it, is a ridiculously expensive business.

Just think, the owner could stop doing that and just have one Jesse Lingard playing football in his back garden, or half a Jordan Henderson.

Football is ridiculous.

Those in glass houses though innit.

We lost 242k a week in our last published accounts, in L1. I dare say the last financial year wasn't much better either.

Would it be a bad idea to ban teams spending more than 100% of their revenue on wages?!

They only managed an extra ~GBP 1m revenue than we did two years ago whilst in League One and finishing outside the playoffs. Given championship brings an extra 7m in tv money that’s quite surprising.

I thought that. For revenue to only be 15m as a Championship club when c. 60% of it is TV monies is pretty poor. Their attendances are pretty low though and I think the season ticket prices are too. We'll be generating more than double what they do from the non TV revenues.

Depends on if you want a football league with only about 5 teams in it.

All makes you wonder how Gamechanger propose to make a profit out of ITFC. Gates are fantastic and shirt sales off the scale, but they have already put large sums into training facilities, dugout, pitch and opening up the corner of the Cobbold. Then there's the proposed development of said Cobbold running into many millions. You also cannot get a team into the Prem on the cheap or keep them there. Ultimately players who cost little and can be sold is a way forward but a club has to be very shrewd to continually replace players whilst managing to maintain ultimately Premiership status.

Wages have to come down somehow but its a competitive market. It would have to come from the top.

The short answer is they bought Town with money they didn’t have and presumably have their faces in the trough to contribute to the eye watering £1 million a month losses

Quite how Ed Schwarz thinks héll get the pension fund’s money back is another question. I presume he thinks all the ‘added value’ will have gullible Americans with hedge funds queueing up for a slice of overpriced pie.

2 words: 'Premier' and 'League'.

The only way any owner of a Championship football club could realise a return on their investment.
