I wonder if he helped influence KM at the awards evening.

Also as a random hunch... I think we'll lose 'Town' in our name in the not too distant future. No reason why i think this, just a feeling.

People might refer to us as Ipswich, in the same way they drop the ‘and Hove Albion’, but I doubt we’d want to lose all that heritage and history. For a club with no history like Norwich it would make more sense.

If Ipswich becomes a city at some point, then surely "Town" would need to be re thought no? Whatever happens, the badge, stadium, fans, name.. will never remove our history.

There is no way that the club will ever remove Town from the name.

Isn't Ipswich already officially a city?

Might have told him to steer well clear as things stand.
I can’t imagine Ferguson’s enjoyed rolling up to Man Utd games and watching that mayhem week on week as his winning philosophy has been dismantled season by season.
Pure speculation of course, not wholly convinced Ferguson’s even bringing a sandwich to the picnic these days.
Regarding our name, I imagine the owners will be aware of the Hull and Cardiff nonsense over recent years. We are and always will be Ipswich Town F.C.

No, been a town since the middle ages:

'In 1200 King John granted the town its first charter, and the town was incorporated in 1446.'

The one in Australia is a city though, despite having a smaller population.

If anything, SAF will have been trying to get McKenna there - I'd like to think he said wait a bit, but knowing SAF I doubt it. He'll do anything to put United first.

Hmm..Karren Brady's idea of changing West Ham United's name to "West Ham Olympic" had a fairly short shelf life.

I'm 100% sure that SAF had a little chat with McKenna, but told him to be patient - it's not the right time now. Give it a year, ten Haag leaves ManU and McKenna has had a years experience of managing in the PL - then I think he will go there.

Is that because under Moyes, their football displayed all the elegance and finesse of an East German shot putter?

Given their owners, they were lucky they weren't renamed West Ham Big Boys Stick It In The Box Volume 2.
