Poll news: Waveney Valley on 21:57 - Jun 18 with 4212 views | NthQldITFC | Blimey, I've just seen the latest MRP poll for my seat (south suffolk) by NthQldITFC 17 Jun 2024 14:12Where are you looking at that? I'm looking at Labour slightly ahead of T*ries with Ref*rm at about 1/3 of either.
I'm in that seat and I'm considering voting Labour (rather than my usual Green) to make sure we get rid of the bonehead Cartlidge.
I'm not sure what to make of polls at the moment. I know the Greens are feeling fairly bullish about Waveney, but the MRP-driven polls aren't reflecting that. There are some strong local factors in Waveney Valley that some of the interpretive polls aren't picking up at all. I know the Greens are bullish about their chances there and I bloody well hope they're right. I'll probably vote tactical Labour in South Suffolk, but would urge anyone who cares about the environment to vote Green in Waveney Valley. It's a statement seat with the co-leader standing. Edit: Corrected with full name of the constituency, (thanks Pinewoodblue) [Post edited 19 Jun 2024 8:17]

It's not the same without Dimbleby getting ever tetchier as it gets further and further past his bedtime, though.

Poll news: Waveney Valley on 07:06 - Jun 19 with 3756 views | Raffles | I work on this stuff all day. The Greens and Tories are neck and neck - Reform is over-rated here. But the tactical vote is Green.

Parts of the old constituency of Waveney have been renamed Lowestoft, but a section has been included (along with areas from various others) in the brand new constituency of Waveney Valley. It is that last which has a possibility of going Green.

The big don't know is Suffolk Coastal. Labour ought to be the tactical vote, but MRP doesn't know about the fury among usual Labour supporters over the party's stance on pylons and Sizewell C. The Greens stand little chance there - all their supporters are working in Waveney Valley - but the LibDems claim they are taking those votes. There is little evidence of that, in spite of the determination of their candidate, so where to put your cross? There is a danger that Coffey may be returned on a split opposition vote.
Poll news: Waveney Valley on 07:48 - Jun 19 with 3659 views | Meadowlark | Waveney Valley and Lowestoft are two different constituencies. Just in case anyone is confused. I was. The greens are targetting WV as one of their four main wins, and Labour are not contesting it very hard, presumably because it's traditional Tory territory, and the swivel eyed gammons who live there wouldn't even consider not voting for nice but dim. In Lowestoft it will probably go to Labour. Con candidate Peter Aldous has been one of the better MPs during the last parliament, often (but not always) voting against government policy, and he's allegedly) a Town season ticket holder. But he'll be gone this time.

I think you're right about him having an ST - I often see him in and around the upper Pioneer on matchdays.

There's also the power of the incumbent to consider, that's likely to reduce the Tory vote significantly in this instance.

Labour aren't contesting Waveney Valley because Loestoft is still neck and neck, and they are putting all their resources in there.

Every vote for Reform reduces the Tory vote, in addition many Tory voters will abstain so expect a lower turn out. If anyone should consider switching their vote is should be those who would vote Green. They will be annoyed if they don’t and the incumbent gets another meal ticket.

I'm suspicious of over-rating Reform's vote. I doubt they Ave the activists or the nous or the machine to make it happen, even if the preference figure is true. In fact I don't many of the Reform figures. It's bloody hard to win a seat and takes months of heart-aching work. I just don't see the Reform carpetbaggers have it.

I believe the Green candidate is one of the joint party leaders too. With boundary changes and everything it is certainly going to be interesting. Voting intention is not always an accurate predictor either. Will be interesting how many traditional Conservatives will still vote for more of the same when push comes to shove and Sunak warns of Labour getting in and being just as bad.
