ITFC women have a cup game at Carra Rud.

Anyone remember the fiasco of the full member cup game when it wasn't all ticket and you could supposedly buy at the gate.

Yes, it was brilliant. 😂

I also remember a Hospital Cup game circa 1980 at FPR when they bought about 42 fans - including “Mob” of 9

It's probably being played at Mulbarton High School or something.

Don't really hear much about the ladies team up there

Oh oh oh!!

Last Christmas my mate and I were out in Nodge and half a dozen of them joined us for a drink in The Wildman.

They were very nice and chatty but I had to drag my 76 year old mate elsewhere as I had an inkling that he was going to ask them if they were all lesbians.

He later confirmed that he was about to.

Didn't we take about 5-6K? Stood outside not knowing would we get in, so tried to go into the city center for a drink. Kept corralled and moving by police until a train came later. Absoloute cock up. Ladies might find themselves with some support!

Police wouldn't let us go anywhere within a half mile radius so we were basically just frogmarched around the ground for 90 minutes then they fecked off when everyone came out of the ground, as their mob sighted us from the hill. I'm sure I was in a group of about a hundred people to begin with, when I turned round to see how many we had, there was a dozen at most.

I then returned home that night to find my bike had been nicked. Great night.

From memory, we returned there in the summer for the Hospital Cup and they let us in for 3 quid or something nominal.

That's the thing with Norwich fans and our rivalry. Seldom ventured down here while given the chance, we'd overrun their gaffe.

Give them a game at Grimsby, QPR or somewhere, they were all over it.

Norwich are bat sh1t crazy.

The thing they had with Grimsby was a bit nuts, as for QPR, they had quite a bit going on with them but we did as well with QPR around the same time. I think a QPR fan ran one of their lot over in a car - or vice verca.

I know a (small) few of the Norwich lot and they are a weird bunch. I know for a fact that they turned Leicester over in their own back yard only a few years back - but they have hardly ever turned out in Ipswich.

I bump into a couple of their lot about my age now and again and they are genuinely quite complimentary about how they used to get beaten up a bit. One of them harks back to the mid 80's when they come a cropper around Yarmouth Rd.

Funnily enough I remember that hoo ha because I was outside the pub (Ipswich Arms or the one next door) while the bigger boys were doing their stuff.

Pint of Wine Paul reckons he got leathered but his mate got nicked. It all went mad and the copper handcuffed the bloke to the fence - only for the coppers to go and get on with something else and Norwich boy got a pelting whilst being handcuffed to an iron fence.

Bonzo also brown bread now.

Oh dear, how sad, never mind.

I remember the Leicester thing. That was the year they got relegated to L1.

Pretty sure they've gone toe to toe with Wolves as well but as you say, with us, they've almost seemed ambivalent. Weird. The only time I really saw them in town was a Friday night in the mid 90s. I was in the Cock and Pye and we were held back as they walked the other side of the road.

That Easter game that was on a Thursday, we were all in town from early doors expecting an advance, but it never came. I think some of them sprang up in Cardinal Park at teatime and even came a cropper there.

Wolves turned them over and after that they had a "Score draw"

Apparently Wolves are now on the "Hit list"

That Thursday game was arguably the craziest football game I have ever witnessed in my very sad 58 years.

It was total mayhem from start to finish.

Cardinal Park?? There were about 20 of their Yarmouth lot in Frankie and Bennys but they got sniffed out and basically melted.

I feel a bit sorry for their Yarmouth lot as they have the best intentions but always end up in the wrong place at the wrong time.

I am reminded of when they turned up at an Essex match with their silly little banner but then bumped into P. M.....s and his merry men

It was definitely the most p1ssed I've ever been at a game. A drinking session that began at about 10 in the morning and continued in searing heat, pints, shorts, shots with next to no food was a bit of a shocking idea on my part.

The sheer amount of lads in and around St Peter's Street late afternoon onwards were definitely something I've not seen since.

Can recall a to do at the bottom of PR as there was a huge crowd blocking the budgie escort into the ground and hearing of some fireworks after. I'd scuttled away to the Dove by then as quite frankly the match itself was miserable and I was dozing off due to the excesses of the day.

I think that day put to bed the idea of resuming 3pm on Saturday fixtures between the two.

I went to that game with a neighbour from our road.

We parked at his cousin’s near the ground and got wind there was issues at the Town end, so his cousin managed to get us tickets in the River End, and saw several other Town fans who’d managed to do the same.

A lot of those who were locked out travelled on the official coaches, and they’d been held up by th volume of traffic and roadworks on the A140.

….I walked all the way round the boundary rope to say hello to them, they didn’t have a clue what was going on.

There was a couple of groups of us there that day.

Fun and games at the bus station on the way back for the trains.
