it 's looking like things are coming together, with the midfield clout that we've all hoped for now coming in. Phillips is such a wow loan! If it comes off and he finds form and confidence he'll be such a key man this year.

In a way, yes. But at the same time we've all thought we need to beef up the midfield somewhat, and several were getting a bit twitchy that it wasn't happening. My post isn;t a grumble, really just an observation that those in charge really do thier job and we can trust them!

After an excellent start, it did seem things had stalled a bit and I was getting worried. A shame we didn't get him in earlier and get a full pre-season in, oh listen to me... ha! Such an incredible signing... it is for him to get his career back on track with KM.

Can't wait to see him when he's ready.

I suppose if you're being critical you could say we're hosting Liverpool in 2 days and we've currently got 1 fit #9 in Delap, and we're short on the left as well in Broadhead's absence having chased Philogene and SS all summer to no avail so far. Harness and Ladapo are arguably closer to the starting XI today than they were 6 months ago. I don't think its a stretch to say the window hasn't gone quite to plan, but its clearly been difficult and we're not the only club experiencing it.

All is not lost though, Phillips would be a big addition, and there's over 2 weeks left to add the last few pieces, primarily in attacking areas.

...now there's a surprise. Now, how about those who have become season ticket holders in the last two season relinquish their tickets to those who were season tickets holders for the dross 15-years prior to that?

Convenient that so many had to give them up before the last two years isn’t it? That’s the gamble of football.

It is. Much of it is down to life circumstances but it is still annoying. However, I would much rather be unable to see the team doing well than be guaranteed tickets to mediocre fare. And, ultimately, I will get to see them occasionally I am sure - managed 2 tickets for Fulham at least.

I thought it was quite self explanatory. Its a standard moan about not being able to get tickets now that we're successful again. Its another Firestick season for me and the odd away game in the home fans section until i get lucky on the season ticket holder waiting list, which will be next season now, at best.

So you chose to not get a season ticket, and others did? I feel for you, but it’s quite an immature take tbh. Life is about choices - it sounds like you made the right one starting a family though.

A simplistic view. My point was more of a take on the fact we used to have a hardcore of 12.5k season ticket holders through thick and thin. That then swelled to around about 16k i think pre KM. Since then we're now at what? 22k - 24k (someone correct me on the numbers)?

So somewhere between League One and Championship promotion we've accumulated a helluva lot of, lets be diplomatic and call it, 'new interest'.

I'm sure a lot of those are young fans and to Ashton's point, we need to bring the new wave through but there are a lot of people who feel a more weighted system would have been better to previous members because lets be honest, the general public sale is ridiculous. Nearly 3000 this morning going for 29 tickets...

But you stopped getting a season ticket, doesn't matter why, you lost your seat and people rightfully got it.

What a bizarre moan.

I still don’t see the connection between this and damp bedsheets over our lack of transfer business. Oh well.

I bought an ST in March 2023 on the ‘early bird’ offer. Nope I would never dream of giving it up to somebody more worthy because nobody is more worthy than the next person. It’s luck of the draw and choices.

As it goes, I’ve had an ST for about 23 of the last 32 years (including all of the Keane, Jewell, McCarthy years) and that just depended on work and domestic circumstances/demands. Taking one up when there was no guarantee of promotion from L1 was sheer fat headed fortune on my part.

If there are people out there more deserving, I’ll just have to live with the guilt.

Its was a tenuous link and jibe at the new wave of fans and the bedwetting but one that was lost in translation so never mind. To be fair, its just bedwetting season and will be this time next year too, no doubt.

I don't agree with your view. In my view it's not about luck, you make your own luck. If you have a season ticket for 23 years, you should absolutely be in a system, which shows preferential treatment for years of 'service' over someone who hasn't (age dependant / weighted) imo.

Never mind though, away games in home ends it is for the foreseeable. Fulham, Brighton, Arsenal, Palace...not too shabby.

I don't think the disdain you show towards the newer fans is particularly edifying.

My partner falls into that group, this will be her 3rd season as a ST holder having never been to a game and is now as invested as I am (if not more).

It might make you feel better to imagine all of the new ST holders as glory hunters, but many are just people who have been introduced to the club and fallen for it/football.

So I sympathise with your situation but not the bitterness of your approach.
