AAH Shirt Swap 16:32 - Aug 18 with 4472 views | Swailsey | I know he’s a former Liverpool season ticket holder - thought it was a nice moment that he swapped shirts yesterday. Do we know who he got? Seemed to be playing it down and not flaunting it. Huge moment for him personally for many reasons.

AAH Shirt Swap on 16:52 - Aug 18 with 4150 views | Pinewoodblue | He was brought up in Liverpool. Less than 7 months ago he was playing in the 4th tier. Yesterday he came on as a sub in a Premier League game against Liverpool in front of 30,000 why shouldn’t he want to swap shirts. Living the dream…..now has a souvenir ….a dsy he will always remember.

For me I just really don’t like the mentality of it but I understand why others wouldn’t agree. We played a pre season friendly at spurs new ground a few years back and the team were all out there taking selfies an hour before kick off like we had won a competition to be there. I put it in the same bracket personally. We’re in the premier league on merit and while I respect it’s a huge personal milestone for some I think it’s a bit tin pot.

Complete opposite for me. 21 year old kid who was playing in League Two earlier this year. Couple of years ago he was in the Conference. He came on for his premier league debut, his dream, against his boyhood club, from the city he moved to to flee a war torn country when he was an infant. He could only have dreamt it better if he was playing for Liverpool. He’s a pro. He came on, did his best, caused some problems for them and once the game is done he’s absolutely free to want something that will remind him for the rest of his life or potentially one of the greatest, if not the greatest day of his life. If a player who has been there and seen it all was fusing over some superstar in awe of them then fair enough. But an incredible set of circumstances for a kid to make his top flight debut against the team he supports when even six months ago that would have seemed completely impossible. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

He may well play against Liverpool again. He’ll never have a Premier League debut again. If I was in his position I wouldn’t have swapped my shirt, but I don’t begrudge him for doing so.

He may also never play Liverpool again though. He could possibly be out on loan next time we play them and who knows what his future holds after that.

There was a lot of gushing on Twitter yesterday from fans who while understandably happy we’re back in the top flight seemed to act like we’re a little non league club who have miraculously climbed our way to the top. I get it’s partly because the premier league is hyped beyond all reason and being here means massive financial impact for the club, but we don’t need to act like we’re Maidstone coming to us. Respect our journey but act like we’ve been here before.

AAH Shirt Swap on 19:49 - Aug 18 with 3126 views | Clutch | 100% players should swap shirts, they are humans, they want them to display and have as memories when they are retired. Even the mega stars of football have shirts from players they've swapped with.

Agree. Lot of fans trying to get photos etc as well, which as you say is inevitable having been away for so long, but gives off real ‘we’re not worthy’ vibes. If I were playing I wouldn’t want to give my opposite number the satisfaction, even post match of the implicit ‘your shirt is worth more than mine’ fan girl stuff. We’re not here to make up the numbers, we’re here on merit and competing in the same division. I get it when a lower league side draws a ‘big boy’ in the cup, it’s a once in a lifetime game. But we’re not that, we’re premier league and we need the mentality to match. As I say completely understand it from a personal perspective and understand others opinions, but it’s a proper pet hate of mine.

Daft choice. It’ll be like a tent on Chappers. Should have swapped with one of their mascots :)

AAH Shirt Swap on 11:00 - Aug 19 with 1827 views | Whos_blue | I'm always reminded of Titus sprinting after Ronaldo at the San Siro to get his shirt. It was the quickest he moved that night! Not that the rather chunky Ronaldo took much catching! It was just a shame Titus wasn't as interested in applauding to 10000 Town fans who'd made the trip!
