Agree with that. Think we've invested excellently and signed some super-talented players who Kieran will develop, and I'm sure the model of selling to reinvest and grow will be in play next summer.

Quite. I thought it was c. £106m (seen £105-107 a few times) - and that was spent, not net.

ITFC third highest spenders in world football on 18:55 - Sep 2 with 3912 views | Churchman | Three games in I wouldn’t be surprised if the value of Greaves, Delap and Hutchinson’s value hasn’t doubled already. Whatever has been spent, despite last week’s tears from a few over not bring in another striker, the club has gone out of its way to back McKenna. None of this settling for relegation milarky. If it doesn’t work this season, it won’t be for the want of trying. | | | | Login to get fewer ads
ITFC third highest spenders in world football on 19:05 - Sep 2 with 3835 views | MK1 | We needed to, but still uncomfortable reading. Not up to date with FFP etc. How do we stand if we don't manage to survive this season? Not a negative post, just a concerned old man who isn't use to our beloved club spending such money.

Yeah I'm the same. Although we've spent though, I think we've invested wisely and a few sales should clear any shortfall if we were to go down. Confident we won't though.

Really wouldn’t worry. Burnley sold Odobert, Muric, Berge and O’Shea for close to £80m. We’ve spent mental amounts. But even if we went down we’d make that back on 3-4 players. It’s nuts but how it is now. Leeds have been back down two years and raised over £100m this summer selling three players.

You are not alone! But this old git would rather we failed trying than do a Norwich with our @rses in the air. By and large we’ve not bought crocks, has beens, pension builders or journeymen. Not all of our recruits will work out - they never do. But we’ve brought in some really good players and given ourselves the best chance. No looking back (it’s the lunacy of project person in me). Love it!

Even if you take the add-ons off (and don't do that for the other teams!) we'd still be in the top 5 or 6 worldwide! It's an extraordinary place we find ourselves in. I'm fairly comfortable with it from the point of view of Town's place, transparency, strategy and responsibility within the realities of the system, but the system itself still makes me feel very uncomfortable.

I suppose the nets needed an upgrade along with everything else after promotion to the Premier League.

Which was always going to be the case when unlike the established clubs, we didn't have any multi-million players leaving to then free up the kitty. We had to magic up a whole new kitty.

Well, Ipswich were one of the earliest clubs to use goal nets in 1890 so I guess they’re in need of an upgrade. Attached is the history of the dear old ‘onion bag’. https://www.huck-net.co.uk/news/2022-08/brief-history-football-nets/
