....going past the station where the ground is, going into the City, so you can have a beer in one of the worst pubs in Britain and then getting back on a train to go back to where you were to watch the match. Some people.

Fair enough if people want to go into the City and make a day of it and then head back to Stratford after because there’s not much round there but the obsession with HH is funny these days, maybe because I’ve aged a little! The Crosse Keys is so much better, still a Spoons of course and not to everyone’s taste but prefer that to HH. Surely a lot of people will just be drinking in Ipswich and heading down to Stratford on the last couple of trains possible time wise. [Post edited 2 Oct 2024 22:35]

....on Stratford High Street alone, including a "spoons". If the match was up north everyone would use whatever one they fancied. People seem a bit concerned about Saturday for some reason.

Yeah but I doubt those that don their ITFC shirts (shirters if you like) would be allowed anywhere!

Hamilton Hall is one of the decent Wetherspoons imo, whilst Id actually rate the one at Stratford as one of the worst, but whatever takes your fancy, they wont let you in the one in Stratford on match day. fwiw theres Tap East at Westfield, then a bunch of craft bars over at Hackney Wick but they dont like away fans, so you might have to go over as far as Hackney Central/London fields instead to find somewhere welcoming. I wouldnt waste your time on the pubs on the opposite side of Stratford station. then again it might be just as easy to go to Liverpool St, its just 10mins by tube, and Hamilton hall isnt the only pub in that area.

There was one time we played QPR and rail replacement buses meant town fans had to get the tube in from Newbury Park - and some people still got off at Liverpool Street to go to the Hamilton Hall.

Indeed. Was in there on Monday and delighted to get my hands on a bottle of Young's Ramrod. Not cheap, though. I'm getting of my train at Stratford, though. Suspect I'll have to put up with whatever p1ss they have in the stadium, especially as meeting my cuz there.
