How well does he do for that chance he had in the 2nd half? Gets it under control, turns his man, strides forward, outside of the boot ball to Burns, bursts into the 6 yard box. Absolutely delicious forward play.

The two saves from Onana were ridiculous. I'd wager that perhaps if they were playing City and it was Haaland that had the chances, they would have blown up.

When you watch the first one back, Onana just flicks his hand out at the last minute. Unbelievable save and body shape.

Before he laid off to Burns to cross for for his flick.

Delicious. And to think he’s a town player. It’s been a while!

Some mixed views on Burns last night, but as Phil says on YouTube he did still manage some good service. Including his cross in the move you highlight.

But Delap is that move, the pass to Burns sublime. And another ridiculous save.

That 1st one was ridiculous. That was a lovely bit of play from us, really nice ball from Burgess and Davis does so well to keep his composure and put it on a plate. Delap doesn't do a lot wrong really, perhaps in hindsight you could say a bit more finesse and he tucks it in the bottom corner, but he gets a good connection and 9 times out of 10 that goes in.

That one in the 2nd half though, that was brilliance from Delap in the build up.

It was good goalkeeping for sure. However, I'd argue that both saves were about good body shape rather than anything else. He really didn't do anything for the second one - it hit his heal more than anything else. The first one - a foot either side and it was a goal. Very, very strong hand though because Delappers properly connected with it!

It comes when you have a very good gk and enhanced by quality training - stance, positioning and movement when it counts.

It annoys me when someone says "he should have scored that" or "he was lucky to save that" when a keeper makes a save such as Onana yesterday. That is when a keeper is really earning his dollars, by being prepared and reacting.

Not sure it makes Delap feel any better!

I loved the fact that the Burgess ball to Davis still works two divisions up for that first one.

At HT chatting with friends a few felt with Delap's first chance if that had been Kane in that situation he would have gone for a slot into the corner rather than a blast down the middle.
But Delap's movement was brilliant took 2 players towards the near post and then immediately drops back.

The most annoying thing about the 2nd one is he didn't seem to know too much about it, and it could quite easily have fallen for Szmodics to stick in the rebound.

Objectively, Burns was one of our best players. Set up Szmodics twice with passes across the 18 yard line in the first half, one of which SS tested Onana with, another that flashed across the 6 yard box, sets up Delap with the cross the OP mentioned and gets credited with an assist as well.

His best game this season!

Also when someone says "amazing save...but he has to score" - how can both be true?

He had to try & flick it, the cross took a slight deflection meaning it was behind Delap.

Yeah looks like he had to try to improvise a bit as it was slightly behind him by the time it arrived.

The Chaplin one near the end was annoying. Clarke does quite well, I was ready to see the net bulge and go fooking mental, would've been glorious if Chappers scored the winner.
