Would anyone actually miss the Prem? 15:06 - Dec 9 with 2628 views | tcblue | I said this last season, but I didn't really see the appeal back then. I wish the Championship was financially viable for a long stay, there's so many advantages IMO: - Games were more exciting - Coverage was easier (Town TV) - No VAR - Able to be competitive against every side - Play the inbreds twice a season - Less corporate / professional nonsense / bias Honestly wish the PL wasn't this "...or bust" promised land. The amount of effort and money involved to get into 'the club' at this level just ain't worth it for me.
Would anyone actually miss the Prem? on 15:08 - Dec 9 with 2592 views | MattinLondon | I’ll miss it - more money, better plsyers and the chance to improve and be better. If a team doesn’t improve, but stays the same, then you’ll quickly stagnant and be overtaken.

Would anyone actually miss the Prem? on 15:15 - Dec 9 with 2546 views | lazyblue | No! We spent far too many years in the Championship. This league is hard but so much better to be a part of with the games far more exciting then previous years ( except for a few end of season games). We have a buzz around the matches we have never had before and couldn’t careless about scum games when you have matches against Man Utd Liverpool etc etc.
Would anyone actually miss the Prem? on 15:31 - Dec 9 with 2483 views | J2BLUE | I want us to stay up and compete for a while but I love the Championship. I am perfectly comfortable with that being our home most of the time as long as we're competing top half. The Prem has been underwhelming and it's not all down to results. I expected it to be a slog but it's just so far removed from what I thought it would be. I'm really pleased we got promoted. The club needed the money and it's done a lot of good. We have a squad and parachute payments if we go down to have an exciting season. Again, I hope we stay up for a while and prove some people wrong but I do miss the Championship, the greatest league in the world.

Would anyone actually miss the Prem? on 16:16 - Dec 9 with 2319 views | HungryLikeTheWoolf | With this being our first season in the Premier League, the excitement for me is the potential of staying up and then establishing ourselves in following seasons - who knows what could happen then, all you need is one good season and a 7th-8th place to play in Europe.
Would anyone actually miss the Prem? on 16:19 - Dec 9 with 2289 views | _clive_baker_ | Pros and cons. All your points about the Championship are valid, but the prize of doing well there is promotion to the PL, so its a bit of an odd one if that's not deemed to be much of a prize. Personally I'm enjoying us having a seat at the table of the biggest league in world football. We're trying to defy the odds to stay there, it would be great if we could pull it off but if not we have a nice consolation in the Championship which is a really exciting league to be a part of. Ultimately I'd love to see us consolidate ourselves in the top flight, but that might not happen at the first time of asking.
Would anyone actually miss the Prem? on 16:35 - Dec 9 with 2200 views | monkeymagic | I concur with nearly all of this, I’d be content with us being a very strong championship club that occasionally dines at the top table. That was never my opinion until about 5 years ago, when I reached the view that it’s nearly impossible to build a competitive team in the PL these days. Brighton are seen as the model and may well finish in a credible top 6 position but that is an exception to the rule, I think if we survive this season it will be another relegation battle in 25-26. The PL has become an absolute circus and I can only see it getting worse. I guess I’m a legacy fan that pitifully harks back to the “good old days”. | | | | Login to get fewer ads
Would anyone actually miss the Prem? on 16:38 - Dec 9 with 2180 views | baxterbasics | As per your list there's plenty I wouldn't miss about the Prem. But at the heart of it, you want your team to be playing with the big boys and competing with the best, right?

Would anyone actually miss the Prem? on 16:49 - Dec 9 with 2142 views | SlayTheCards | The only thing i'm missing is the constant stream of football. I want to see our town club competing with these players and teams. I can't believe people want us to be kicking about with teams like QPR and WBA again. So boring.
Would anyone actually miss the Prem? on 17:42 - Dec 9 with 1953 views | OldFart71 | If you have no goal in life you may as well give up and it's the same with any sport or really anything. We all know why there's so much negativity surrounding ITFC this year as opposed to the last couple of years. We would have a few hiccups. I think I'm right in saying both previous seasons we faltered slightly coming into the Christmas and new year and then due to new recruits getting up to speed we went on. This season has been punctuated with interruptions via International games, a real lack of consistency, injuries and in all honesty I think KM not being sure what his best 11 is, again due to inconsistent performances that have in truth run through most of the team. We had 17 seasons in the Championship and yes we could perhaps guarantee to see a lot more results in our favour. But we must also realise that what is happening to us is in the main happening to most teams promoted from the Championship. Yes we spent over 100 million but in the grand scheme of things for many teams in this League you get one and a half players for that amount. We got twelve players which were needed due to outgoings. Unfortunately there's no way to find out if a player is good enough to step up a league without playing him. Maybe our very excellent recruitment this time hasn't totally worked but we can whatever happens be comforted in the fact that should the worst happen and we get relegated that the few that are sold will recoup the outlay and that we will still have a squad and money to challenge again with the added insight into what is needed to stay in the Prem.

The last thing I want is relegation and if it happens I will be devastated the only consolation is the chance to beat Norwich.
Would anyone actually miss the Prem? on 20:46 - Dec 9 with 1562 views | skinnybob72 | One big downside of being relegated will be that the away allocation for most games will be closer to 2k than 3k. Plus, the 17 teams who are not relegated, and in particular teams like Brentford, Fulham, Bournemouth, Everton will be another season's Premier League spending ahead of us - making it even harder to stay up if we were to go up again.

Would anyone actually miss the Prem? on 22:51 - Dec 9 with 1358 views | SE1blue | I'd miss it. Feels like we are where we are meant to be, even with the nearly impossible match ups. Watching the Palace and Bournemouth games, I felt like we totally belonged, despite the results. If you're not near the top, the Championship can be really dull and only two guaranteed promotion spots out of 24 places, in a league where anyone can beat anyone on a Saturday, is crazy odds to get out again.

100% this. I think the last two seasons has blinded a lot of people to just how abject life as a Championship team can be. We had 17 consecutive years in the Championship, eeking out an existence before the inevitable fall into League 1. We are now backed by owners with Premier League financial muscle, Premier League aspirations and who are building the infrastructure capable of surviving in the Premier League. I'm 100% at ease with relegation this season, but only because I didn't think we were ready for Premier League (international scouting network needs to be rebuilt, new training ground etc). One season back in the Championship with parachute money and (as much as I hate to say this) significant profits on Davies, Hutchinson and Delap (Greaves too if he can get back to fitness) - plus hopefully still with McKenna - and I think we can build a team to survive the Prem. Sure, there's no guarantees about bouncing back, but I don't see there will be much demand for Chaplin, Burgess, Woolfie, Taylor, Clarke, Hirst, Szmodics, Townsend, Ogbene, Broadhead or Johnson. Get Humphries back as well - and that's the core of a team that should be very very competitive in the Championship with a few parachute money signings sprinkled in. If that's what it takes to give us the foundations for long term viability in the Premier League, then that's OK with me - but settling for life in the Championship - no way.
