No Burgess, but 5 at the back is sensible

Don't really like the likely shift in formation tbh. Going to be a long night.

Burgess game time being managed, obviously with Chelsea in mind. Do have to wonder what Walton has to do to get in team. How many mistakes will Muric get away with, seems undroppable? That said let's hope for a big performance from him tonight

It 100% needs to happen.

I'd be more worried if he hadn't changed it.

Like it. Mind you, it was such an obvious move practically everyone on here was asking for it. Wonder what's up with Burgess?

I have no idea if this will work...

Seems sensible to me. We’re unlikely to have big spells on top where we get bodies high up the pitch. Keep it tight and look to hit them on the break seems sensible. Although we’ve still got the option to use Leif and Johnson as attacking threats, which plays to their strengths whilst keeping an extra man back. On paper it works for me. Hopefully it works on grass too!

So pleased for Woolfy that's he got back in. Classy player.

Nah. Just inviting more pressure and moving away from the things we know we are good at by setting up differently. And we have to bring in Woolfy who hasn't played in over two months, against Gabriel Jesus of all people.

Happy to be wrong, obviously.

I am interested why Woolfenden's there ahead of Burgess, though it's nice to see him given a chance. Big test, though.

I think you have to consider how our usual formation has played out over the past few games. If we did that tonight, we would have got a hiding. Admittedly, we may still do, but at least we're trying something different.

I tend to agree MM. Slightly, just slightly more easy seeing that KM has shown a bit of pragmatism about this. Just about anyone who is any9ne in football and commented on our game v NUFC said we just have to change our defensive tactics. So I’m pleased with this, though not sure it change the outcome!

As pointed out on another thread, it might not be a change of formation. O'Shea to right back, Johnson in front. Hope it is a back three though.

Did notice we only have three players from last year in the starting line up - Davis, Woolfenden and Hutchinson. Is that the lowest number we've had this season?

I would guess Woolfy's in because he right footed. I'm expecting O'Shea at RB with Johnson right midfield but dropping back to RB when out of possession, same as we did vs Spurs.

A bight light on defenders in the subs. Hope that there are no more injuries during the game.
