A shame that Broady likely to be on bench again 18:40 - Dec 29 with 3420 viewsjasondozzell

Such an exciting player to watch. Lovely feet and balance.

Can understand that summer injury/fitness/slight lack of physicality means he's not so suited to press/frenetic start of games but hope he gets longer tomorrow when he comes on.

Been looking so sharp since coming on at Forest.

Broady to get a winner against Chelsea and get us going again up the table would be fitting in so many ways.

Still think that his free kick against Wednesday changed everything. Including eventually being in this league this season!

He can also see a pass. Whether it's physicality or the fact that KM believes you can't get 60 or 70 minutes out of him I don't know. The biggest problem Town have is we don't have a real striker to come on. Hirst is injured, Szmodics appears lightweight for this division, Al Hamadi isn't good enough. Chaplin struggled to a certain extent in the Championship and although I admire his effort again appears a little short of class for this division. Town have many admirable players who I have the greatest respect for and whatever we do this season it can still be classed as success. But the step up is proving difficult. Just as it is with Southampton and Leicester and they both had the jump on us by knowing what is necessary in this League. I feel there needs to be a rethink to help promoted clubs. In horse racing you have a system whereby for handicaps those that win the most or are placed in better races receive a penalty in the shape of more weight and you also get races where three year olds get a weight allowance against four year olds. Maybe there could be a system introduced where depending on league position you start with minus so many points. Something on the lines of minus 10 for finishing first, 9 for second, 8 for third. Fourth, fifth and sixth minus 4, seventh, eighth, ninth and tenth 2 points and the rest start at level points.

It's interesting KM seemed to say he wasn't ready for a start. Yet we've had j clarke start and wes start whilst injured.

Is he paying you to keep posting stuff like this or are you a family member of his?

His cameos have yet to prompt an assist or goal. Game states when he’s come on have been favourable - chasing the game, opposition sat off etc. If Nathan Broadhead is the answer you’re asking the wrong question.

KMac knows best, but I am seriously struggling to see how JClarke ever gets the nod ahead of Broadhead.

And I put in a lot of effort to ensure that that sentence was as positive as possible.

There must be a problem between KMcK and Broady

Clark and Ali better than Broady? I don't think so.

Yeah sadly that's my reading of it too. He clearly wasn't happy with lack of minutes earlier in season.

It seems strange because I think he's got the ability for this level.

Based on what? A few cameos against tired opposition?

Broady has looked lively when used a sub but he's not of the same quality as Omari or Szmodics. I don't see where he fits in as a starter

This definitely feels like a case of players getting better in people's minds when they've been out of the squad. See also calls for Walton, H Clarke and Luongo to start

There's only one way to know for certain if he's up to it, isn't there?

I don't understand what anyone would want to write a player off, especially someone who has played such a pivotal role in getting us here.

Re Walton - what did you make of his performance against Liverpool?

These are top professionals, not numbers on a card on a FIFA game.

I don't doubt that Clarke, Luongo, Walton etc. are not as good ultimately as other players in the squad now we've gone up another level, but they can still offer a lot.

Honestly couldn’t agree more. I’m now at the point where I’d like to see Broady start just to prove these people wrong. Just don’t see him being anywhere near the physical level required. People also forget he’d fallen a long way down the pecking order in the second half of last season.

Yes. Because that's all we can base it on. That and what we have seen from him in previous seasons. If you start comparing him against Omari or Szmodics are you saying that they are similar? No, of course you're not, so each player brings a different set of skills and I think in the short periods we have seen Broady this season he has shown what he is capaable of at this level. Let's see it for a more sustained period.
However, I trust the manager to make the right decision, and if he thinks Broady is not ready for whatever reason then who am I to criticise, but we all have different opinions eh?
Omari had a strange game on Friday, First half he looked a little lost. Second half he had loads of the ball but his indeciseveness was noticeable. Maybe give HIM a rest for a while and bring him on as the impact sub?

Yep. Lots of calls towards the end of last season for Sarmiento to start ahead of Broady, but all of a sudden he's a premier league player

I get that we're struggling but it now feels like people are in the mindset of throw enough sh*t at the wall and some of it will stick*

People also seem to think that football is just match day and nothing else. McKenna will have seen how he plays in training and how he works in certain systems. If he was good enough he'd be starting

*I'm obviously not calling Broady sh*t. And do think he's looked a decent sub option

Seriously?

I'd like to think there's a lot more to football management than just "try something" and hope it works

There's certain players and profiles of player who only really suit coming off the bench once they're at a certain level of football.

If you bring Omari on with 20 to go, license to attack and less defensive responsibility or tactical shape discipine, he'd likely look more effective too.

There's a lot more to football management than dogatically sticking to your principles and repeating tactics that aren't working too. That's the difference between a very good coach and a very good manager.

Quite agree.

And as I've said on here before McKenna isn't immune from criticism, both in terms of tactics and team selection

Doesn't mean that Nathan Broadhead is the answer though

Of course, but we're not talking about using a player who has the ability of a non league player, we're talking about a player who was one of the most important player of our promotion campaigns, scored some important goals, assisted some important goals, and understands the KM style as well as any one else in the team.

Very different coming on so late in games to starting them.

I think we all love Broady as a player but there are very valid athleticism concerns that come with him
