I'll be glad when footballs back... 16:48 - Jul 26 with 727 viewsgreyhound

Second weekend of the lad having no football, goodness knows how long since town's last competitive game, I've spent the morning in the garden with a hoe, and a blowtorch on the driveway to get rid of weeds. I'm quickly realising that when my hobbies take a break I don't really know what to do with myself.

What's passing all your time at the moment. Kids are on holiday, which means I'm being roped in to trying to play fc25 something I wasn't good at 10 years ago and certainly am not any better now. Any ideas appreciated

Oh, and I feel for you. I’ve just spent 2 hours steam cleaning the kitchen floor. Well half of it at least. It’s Sod’s Law at the moment as well, as we’ve had nothing on for the kids for the last few weekends. As soon as we get into the season we’ve got events on most weekends. Sometimes I wonder if I’ll ever get to see us play again. We’ll rip the league apart this season too - it’ll be a good one to be a regular. I can feel it in my bones.

I literally sold my clubs in March, as at the time I could never see a return to hunting the rough.

However that seems to be shortsighted, I've just tuned my guitar up for the first time in about 15 years, strummed wonder wall...and put it back down again

I was a little surprised that he had a hoe in the garden

Did he pay extra for outside?

It does sound a bit niche, but each to their own

I have taken up a lesser-known sport of Goat Boule & Scrollery - to fill in the pre-season football time.

This niche sport involves:

A trained Suffolk goat nudging hand-carved wooden boules across a chalk-marked village green.

Players must recite a couplet aloud before each throw, preferably referencing local landmarks or ancestors in verse.

Bonus points awarded for successfully ringing the Church bell at the edge of the pitch using a ricochet boule shot.

The winner receives the ceremonial “Scroll of Ovine Honour,” inscribed with their score and framed by Julie Goodyear
