Tuesday:
Walton
Young Wolf Baggot Kipre
Taylor Barbrook
Clarke Szmodics Philogene
AAH

Sunday:
Palmer
Johnson O'Shea Greaves Davis
Azor Cajuste
Ogbene Chaplin Clarke
Hirst

Arguably Young is the better option than Johnson at the moment but I wonder if we plan to use him more as a substitute, at least for the time being, to help close out games. Hence starting tomorrow and back on the bench Sunday.

If Philogene is fit then start him Sunday and not tomorrow.

Agree Philogene starts Sunday

As does Young

Interesting to see when Akpom has a start, think he’s more of a pre-season than Jens.

Yes start Young Sunday as well, maybe give him 45 mins tomorrow. I do think once he’s up to full speed he’ll be our starter. Hopefully we will start scoring from set pieces!!

Could we give Cajuste 45 mins tomorrow if he needs minutes? Then extra time to recover before Sunday?

I'd swap Johnson and Young around.

Think we might see an academy LB as well tomorrow.

I would prefer to see a back three with Woolfenden in the team.
We missed his composure, vision and ball distribution on Friday especially as the game went on.

I think Cajuste might get 30 mins at the end of both games. Not much preseason. Perhaps he'll get the start against Southampton and get replaced by Taylor around 70 mins though.

I think Akpom will be similar in terms of game time, but with some flexibility in where we use him.

I'd also rather Young for Sunday. Think him and Ogbene could cause real problems.

Tomorrow feels like a nice opportunity to give Boniface a start at left back to me.

I'd try and give Cajuste & Azor 30 minutes off the bench together in the middle.

Boniface is injured by all accounts.

Ahh. In that case tomorrow doesn't feel like a nice opportunity to give Boniface a start at left back to me.

If you consider minimal pre season I’d start Akpom and Cajuste tomorrow. Give them 60 minutes.

Southampton may be too soon for either of them apart from a sub appearance?

Feel like Jens and Akpon need to have at least 45 minutes on Tuesday.

Has Cajuste played at all since the West Ham game?

Innit. Can't see Cajuste starting against Saints given his limited pre season. Get him some minutes tomorrow, bench Sunday and a full week on the training ground before Preston.

Would save young for the league games and start Johnson Tuesday, it’s clear You g needs to start ahead of Johnson.

Young & Hutchinson would be better against Southampton.
