Apparently so. Get out of jail card played. Now we must take advantage of it.

Yes. Cards issued in abandoned matches still count, as due subsequent bans.

Even if some of the challenges that hit carded could be argued as being clumsy due to the poor pitch?

That is ridiculous to be honest. If the match is abandoned then all events in it should be wiped. Cantwell's goal will no longer stand, the result will no longer stand, but the cards issued will? Makes no sense.

But if a player is badly injured due to a poor tackle the injury would still stand.

Are you serious, mate. We've been given a massive let off which we don't really deserve..... and you're worried about a bloody red card. If we replay this match we'll be 0-0 with 11 v 11 over 90 mins. What are you moaning about? | | | | Login to get fewer ads

What if some of the cards / injuries were down to the conditions? ( which they were ) It still makes no sense for cards to stand in a game that will be replayed. That means our chances of player suspensions accumulated for yellow cards are higher, as we will have played more minutes.

I can see why you wouldn't though. Say you're 3-0 down and decide you want to get the game abandoned so players just start scything the opposition down left and right. Game gets abandoned and the cards would be wiped.

Greaves' red was nothing to do with the conditions though.

I think it would be a logistical nightmare to add reviews of cards, as to whether they were conditions-based or not. I can see why the rule is kept simple, tbh

Was one abandoned because of the weather and another because of the actions of one of the teams?

Should be a full replay but we should give them a goal…… .after we have scored 3.

Not suggesting they be reviewed. If the match is abandoned and subsequently replayed, then everything in the it should be wiped. Very simple.

Agreed, unless a player has made a dangerous challenge or has been sent off for violent conduct, it makes no sense that goals get wiped but cards stand! I'll take it, though, if it means we get a second go at that match!

I agree with you. If the game's replayed then the first one didn't officially happen - so how can the red card (or any cards for that matter) happen? Greaves will be clear to play against Blackburn for the full 90 when it's rearranged, so it doesn't benefit them at all. In fact, theoretically the next 3 teams could be teams Blackburn want us to beat... so it could even go AGAINST them (if, for example, it were a star player sent off)!

Though, as it was a professional foul, he'll only miss one game.

Oh I thought it was 3 for a straight red. Regardless, my point still stands. Not complaining, I'm delighted the weather saved us. I just think that rule, if true, doesn't make sense.

Only one game for a professional foul. I only learned that today as well.
