Disappointing day but total overreaction as usual 18:51 - Feb 21 with 3455 viewsjasondozzell

It's like some think we should never lose a game.

We’ve had too many bad days this season.

Far too inconsistent, good performances followed by really flat displays too often. Only once this season have we won more than 2 games on the bounce this season.

Most importantly there’s good a real lack of quality and cohesion on display throughout the campaign. To be in February and saying that after building a £150m squad is poor, whatever way you dress it up.

We are running out of loses for the top 2 even you must know that.

Poll: Ok gut feeling then, promotion?

Another point scoring exercise? We have loads of other threads already saying this, some of which you have been on.

Away at Leicester and Sheff Utd were bad, this was a new low. And highly unusual under KM for us to collapse like we did. Overran in midfield, shambles at the back, and very little up front.

It’s February, we finish the season in May! We lost yes, to a very decent Wrexham side, Middlesbrough have now lost to Coventry and failed to beat Oxford in the space of 5 days, a lot of football yet to be played.

It was not a new low.

Anyone thinking that hasn't seen enough of our lows over the years.

Don't agree. I think what KM has had to do with totally new side is bloody hard in this league.

We lost at Leicester to a worldy and a freak goal. Sheff Utd was bad because we were bullied on the pitch.

Today was just shambolic, cannot run. Cannot pass. Cannot shoot. Half the team static in their fixed positions as if they were being held by puppet strings. Second to every loose ball. And Wrexham aren't Barca or even a fellow parachute team. In fact they have conceded the most goals at home (bar Sheff Wed) and yet we let in FIVE.

Given the fact that Wrexham played midweek away made it even worse. It was as if our entire team spent the past week celebrating the Lunar New Year feasting on Chinese hotpot and booze.

Someone, somewhere must take some responsibility for today. I wasn't there today, but if I was I would be sending a strongly worded letter to the club for a travel refund.

I think its more the fact that it seems that players aren't giving 100% and KM isn't learning lessons. The performances this season have been very vanilla. Most fans accept losing when they see endeavour and commitment - which (IMO) has been missing for most of the season

A new low in the KM era. Not just the defeat. But the manner of it and the obscene goals we gave away. Against a team that also rebuilt in the summer and spent half of what we side to look much more threatening.

A strongly worded letter for a travel refund? Some fan you are! You don't get a refund every time the team lose a game. Might be appropriate for when we lost 7-1 to Posh away but even then...

If we can't run, pass or shoot how did we score three good goals?

Teams lose games.

I know but the fact we are just shrugging off losses against Wrexham now like it’s almost ok as it’s such a hard game, sums it up where we are. They just lost at home to Norwich and Millwall.

Sheffield United was supposed to be our toughest game left. Now Wrexham is up there after this result. We have to go to Norwich and Southampton and others yet. I’m sure similar things will be said and all of a sudden if those results go south and we will be nearing double digit away losses if we are not careful.

A big missed opportunity today and not like these kind of things aren’t reoccurring away from home in terms of the way we concede.

Well yeah, the general idea if you want to finish top 2 and get promotion is to not lose many games. Nobody expected to go unbeaten all season but we have lost ( and drawn ) too many and some of our away 'performances' have been really poor.

Today was simply shambolic from a defensive point of view and people have every right to be peed off. We have the most highly rated ( and paid ) manager in the division and some of the most highly rated players and to ship 5 goals at Wrexham is simply unacceptable.

What do you expect? We heaped pressure on ourselves by putting that drab performance last Friday. The whole "yeah whatever" last Friday and from the sounds of it we were even worse today.

Doesn't set a good example does it? Some people Last weekend were OK with losing because we had this game. Now this game has gone wrong, it didn't help

"Teams lose games"

Not in this pathetic and spineless manner. One which is a common recurrence this season.

Was I complaining when we lost to Leeds in 23/24? WBA in 23/24 when we had an off day? Or even when we got pasted week in week out in the PL - I didn't say much except re Muric (for his kamikaze moves)

Tell me, when was the last time a parachute team in their first season back in the Championship let in FIVE to a newly promoted team? I believe it is a new record.

That's how bad today was. Stop trying to convince yourself otherwise

Depends on Boro and Coventry doesn't it!

So seems pretty ludicrous to say we've lost too many.

I have far more sympathy recently for KMc, because judging by recent press conference I think he’s been shafted a bit in transfer market, I think there are signings he has not been fully committed to. I think there are far greater issues with our recruitment department at the club than anywhere else, and I’d be interested to see if Ashton does is post transfer window interview.

Nevertheless, when you watch us, you’d have to be incredibly delusional or in complete denial to not to think we lack a real level of quality and cohesion, and have shown real inconsistency throughout the season.

If you take the results in isolation from performance I think we are probably more likely to go up today than we were before it given the results of Boro, Millwall and Hull as they all should have banked three points and only managed one between them.

Admittedly a very good day for Coventry.

Leeds away in 23/24 a far worse performance than today by the way

We lost by this scoreline to Lincoln in 2019. With the club rudderless.

Get some perspective!

Gaining two points on Boro after two away games against teams in the top 8 is obviously good but I can’t look at it quite like that after watching my team do that second half. It was too alarming and didn’t feel like a complete one off to me. I fear we have many stumbling blocks yet but I hope I’m wrong.

Let’s see how things look after the midweek round I guess.
